Yeah if the lead time is huge it should at least be a negotiation about the length maybe? A straight up no is not very considerate at all, and would just kill morale.

It’s a bit rough but businesses can say no, I reckon if the leave period is long or the request does not give them time or ability to cover it. If it’s well ahead of time the business might not be acting reasonably.

I think requests can be denied if there is reasonable grounds. The process should be outlined in the employment contract
