Last week Trump withdrew from 66 international orgs (formal and informal) & treaties. Here's a great analysis.
It's common practice for donors to review intl' institutions. BUT never seen such a mass withdrawal. @raffaelemstr.bsky.social @borzyskowski.bsky.social

Because I have been such a good boy (once again), 🎅 has an early present for me: here's a brand-new (open access) article discussing the use of #radicalright as a concept in current scholarship.
And if that wasn't already great (it is), there's more 1/3
Today is the deadline to apply for our workshop on #obstructionism in IOs. Looking forward to great discussions in Bologna!
One week left to submit your abstracts!
The article is in great company as part of the special issue on 'Rethinking European Security' ed. @stephofmann.bsky.social - whom I thank for splendidly putting this together, alongside the IP editors and the two anonymous reviewers for their work!

Now assigned to the latest issue of International Politics!
With the new US National Security Strategy, it's the 'perfect' timing to reflect on the implications of the far-right on European security - a topic I discuss in this article:

1/Quick thoughts of implications of US National Security Strategy for Europe -- weaponized interdependence meets nationalist international. The US will use its tools (economic, technology, and financial dominance) to press for far right agenda.

Excited for #EISARapallo25 in a few weeks!

Well, at least somewhat… as you may notice from the @ecpr.bsky.social job bulletin newsletter 👀

Excited to be heading to Rapallo, Italy for @europeanisa.bsky.social Exploratory Symposia w/ @raffaelemstr.bsky.social & Prof. Lisbeth Zimmerman & others.
We will discuss role & impact of Far-Right Parties in International Relations. Thanks to EISA for opportunity 🙏
Happy to have contributed a piece on the far right to the anniversary report of the Karlspreis. The impact of the far right does not only depend on seats or government participation. Their success erodes support for international collaboration because other parties accommodate and legitimize them.

Last, but definitely not least:
The @ecprsgir.bsky.social provided an amazing support to our workshop.
Their endorsement was pivotal to the success of the workshop - which we celebrate with a workshop dinner!
Thank you wholeheartedly for making this possible.
I’m also deeply grateful to all the workshop participants. Each of them greatly engaged with one another's work & created a supportive & professional atmosphere.
I hope to see all their work in upcoming publications!
A special thanks to Lisbeth for her support, trust & intellectual generosity.
The workshop was the first step to discuss a promising research agenda, and I'm looking forward to continuing the conversation.
Happy that this will take place at the next @ecpr.bsky.social General Conference in Thessaloniki in August - Lisbeth and I will follow up with a panel on these issues!
Yet we need to explore the theoretical and methodological challenges of studying the international dimension of the far-right.
The "far-right" is not a Western phenomenon, but it is for sure a Western concept.
Academic debates need to consider ways to de-Westernize this research agenda.
Together, we unpacked thin/thick ideologies of the far-right, transnational coalitions and networks, mainstreaming/radicalization, institutional responses, and policy effects. We agreed that policy contexts, venues, and societal changes matter.
Great 4 days in Prague with amazing scholars attending "The International Politics of the Far-Right" ECPR JS workshop Lisbeth Zimmermann and I co-directed! @ecpr.bsky.social #ecprjs25
18 exciting papers explored the international dynamics of the far-right - and the challenges of studying these.
