It always makes me laugh when ppl compare Alastor to Bill Cipher and Black Hat, and say things like “He’ll never be as strong as Bill” or “He wishes he was as scary as Black Hat” as a slight to his character when that’s LITERALLY the point.

Yeah that’s my interpretation too. I can see his mentality being, “yeah it CAN be a nice activity, but there are plenty more fun activities I’d rather be doing. I can live just fine without it.”
