Is this is a naturally emerging European Constitution?

The EU now requires all Mobile Phones to be sold with easily replaceable and standardised batteries, as they used to be.

From 2027 they all will be again, in Europe.

Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need - scoop.me In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Why? The country applies the "Housing First" concept agains homelessness.

“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back to a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

IT SAVES PUBLIC MONEY to house people.

The European Coal and Steel Community was never just an industrial project.

It was a project for peace in Europe.

A project for shared prosperity.

A project for strength and independence in a world of great power competition.

The very same purpose that still drives our Union today.

Correctly pointed out, imv Henig has the UK's best interest at heart. Legitimately.
What he doesn't necessarily have, even if sometimes pretending to, is EU's interest as high in his priorities.

I think the recognition that there are legitimate & sometimes opposing interests is still missing in UK.

Hungary has chosen Europe.

Europe has always chosen Hungary.

A country reclaims its European path.

The Union grows stronger.

An electoral defeat for Orbàn does not mean the end of Europe's governance troubles. It only gives us a chance at reform. National leaders will no longer be able to use Orbàn as a scapegoat. Now they have an opportunity to prove they are serious about democratic reform of the EU. 🇭🇺 #HungaryElection

How this tiny country became the best at night trains in Europe YouTube video by DW Planet A

Excellent report on Europe’s sleeper trains.

And with a contribution from railway campaigner @jonworth.eu who nails it.

The persistent lack of understanding of what the European Union 🇪🇺 is in the UK (and anglosaxon milieus) is not surprising but needs to be addressed clearly.

The European Union is a POLITICAL union to the benefit of its members that will adapt to their needs, including in defense/security.

Brussels banking rules could hit lenders and UK-EU ‘reset’, City figures warn Concern that efforts to boost European defence spending could also be damaged

The EU is protecting the Euro from 3rd countries without any financial interest in EU stability.

When the 🇬🇧 was a member it used its veto to trash the rescue package during the Euro crisis which threatened the whole EU project.

That situation must not happen again.

The day the UK realizes that the European Union is not about economics, but politics and a shared vision of the world/society, will be a national epiphany.

I would tend to disregard anything the UK says when associated with the word “economics” (or “bloc”).

Go beyond mercantilism.

4. "And although the recent UK-EU summit suggests both sides want closer ties, so far that effort has centred on trade in goods and security rather than financial services. Until the reset reaches the City, London’s diminished role in European markets looks set to stay."

3. "So can London win back its influence? It’s unlikely. This was not a temporary dip caused by market panic. Overall connectivity across European markets barely changed. The European financial network did not shrink – it just reorganised."

How long can a country survive not in a state of all-out war if its leadership is systematically and methodically murdered by foreign powers? How viable is it for Iran to gloss over this precedent?

3 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

Point 1, imo, is the least solid. That is because it is dismissing too easily that the Iranian leadership and highest state officials have been systematically targeted and assassinated.

I don't know whether this is something viable for a functioning state + retaliation seems inevitable/necessary.

Also, let's remember that all media ecosystems (especially US, I recommend book "The owned continent" for this topic) are the fruit of significant government investments & public policy.
Same applies for the UK in this case.
So the EU needs to actively implement policies and investments to this end.

3 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

I think we agree, but the political action here for me is quite clear; EU commentariat (be it public officials or other EU stakeholders) should take the habit of publishing on EU-based media. Investments and EU audience expectations should ensure that EU debates must normally take place on EU media.

Indeed, but the EU media ecosystem still needs to fully develop, and to do that, officials and other stakeholders need to make that ecosystem the one where EU debate takes place. It cannot be hosted on third countries platforms.

3 weeks ago 2 0 1 0

Important, imo, to keep in mind that there is no such thing as an "international" media/outlet. All media have their (legitimate) biases, are the product of a specific culture, education and political reality. They can't exist in a vacuum, so if they are based in London, it will affect them.

3 weeks ago 2 0 1 0

I like your analogy, but there are very real issues of media bias and the "European story" being always told by third countries (with their national bias and agenda), when it comes to the EU.

Media plurality is essential, but in an information era, it's important to cultivate an EU media ecosystem.

Not sure that helps much, likewise with the Japanese ownership of the FT.

IMHO EU officials should use EU-based platforms as the norm, and go to third countries only as exception; just like British or US officials do. It would be weird for US officials to use Chinese media.

Curious choice of platform to use for this message.

European officials should get used to use European (ie EU-based) outlets/media.
