Here are progress pictures that I took while drawing “Convergence of the Curious”. I used the grid method as a guide to help me draw the birds in the correct proportions and then later used the same grids to help me draw the hen square by square. The amount of feathers was overwhelming 😵‍💫

Finally I can show this off! This was my entry for the Minnesota Pheasant Stamp Contest. It took 3rd place out of eight entries! This was definitely the most challenging drawing I’ve ever done.

A little peek behind the process

This is usually the first step in my artistic process. I collect almost all of my own reference material to use for my drawings and paintings. I’ll spend hours photographing my subjects, like my sheep!
