We have been developing our estimation skills by working in groups to solve esti-mysteries. We made sensible estimates, explained our reasoning and improved our estimates when given more information.

Over the last few weeks we have been learning how to write letters.
We had a lovely time at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh this morning. It was wonderful hearing the RSNO perform live to Yoyo and the Big Sleepover. We are all inspired to be musicians now. Thanks again to our parent helpers. We couldn’t do these trips without you.

We continued our work on time this week. We estimated how long a task would take then used a timer to time it. We also discussed timetables and when they would be used in everyday life.
This week we have been learning about the Australian Outback. We wrote fact files and used watercolours to paint lovely pictures of Uluru (Ayers Rock).
In addition to our daily ERIC (Everyone Reading In Class) sessions, we have also been enjoying DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time. 📚 #readingschoolsweek
We really enjoyed our first session in our new school library. We had a lovely quiet, calm time reading for pleasure. ☺️📚

As part of our hot and cold lands topic we learned about deserts. We discussed that they are very dry areas of land that get less than 25cm of rainfall each year. They can be hot or cold. We looked at the Sahara desert and painted these lovely landscapes. 🏜️🌵🐪🦂
