Looks big. What is it? Some sort of musical instrument?

When I moved to the US over 20 years ago for my grad school, I was hoping America was pushing for a Star Trek-like world. Now, I am not sure if we are heading to the Mad Max world or Terminator world. Curse you DM, this isn’t the game I wanted!!
