oh not even, the movie isn't bad in a fun way. mostly in a miserable, brain deadening way.

Also this movie made me so bored that I started to get mean about the lead actor. Things I said to my girlfriend while watching legally distinguished the Mummy:

'this dude looks like a malfunctioning puppet'
'this dad looks like he was 3d printed'
'this guy is like if a furby became a man'

Speaking of, it was pretty smart of the scary ancient cult that doesn't want to be discovered to kidnap the kid of a semi-well known international news guy.

I mean, I guess it was kinda smart as it never factors into the plot.

I'm really glad they etched a silly winged skeleton into each side of the scary black pyramid. It really screamed ancient Egypt and not like 'my new ep is on soundcloud'

also pretty cool of them to avoid the 'ancient foreign customs are scary' trope by using fake ancient foreign customs that are scary.

One of the big claims the movie made was 'no green-screens! We shot on real sets'. How exciting. I'm so pleased that the movie is shot with such a shallow depth of field that the whole thing looks like the bottom of an empty dumpster only blurry.

Concept art is a curse. Artstation is a fucking blight. Seeing obviously modern art in what is supposed to be an ancient book is so godawful. They think you're stupid. Or they just don't care.

Another good way to do a mystery is to have three characters investigate it at the same time even though you already know what is going on. Why the fuck is this movie over two hours long?

A really good way to maintain a mystery is to clearly explain everything that is about to happen in a fifteen minute long prelude.

When a new horror movie is at the cinema, there is a pretty good chance my girlfriend and I will go and watch it. Which means seeing a lot of dogshit movies, such as 'differentiated for legal reasons' the Mummy.
