I reckon Carney’s open, jovial, sincere care for his brand of politics is why he cuts through political irony and obfuscation globally.

A mostly-drunk glass of beer in the foreground, a digico sound mixing desk behind it and an empty stage behind it bathed in purple light

‘I’m not a regular mum, I’m a cool mum’ I think to myself as I yawn into my $16.50 pint of Carlton Draught, waiting for the Canadian jazz fusion band to come on stage
The NACC's view here is even funnier when you consider it's about a bloke who secretly appointed himself to multiple roles and thought no-one would find out.
in case you've never seen it, this is Roger Ebert on The Mummy
I like mystery bag of green bits
INDEPENDENT Playgrounds would become 'crack dens' if Greens were in power, policing minister says
I’m sorry, I know it’s a minor point, but crack dens are traditionally indoor establishments. What the scaremongering Labour minister is describing here is a crack paddock.
Shadow minister for immigration.
Oh no, I’m so sorry. ❤️
I actually don’t have an opinion on whether listening to an audiobook counts as reading or not, AMA
say the line bart meme, Angus Taylor edition. "Fantastic. Great move. Well done, Angus"
Ooh
Scene is Julia Gillard and Chris Bowen (then Min for Immigration) in a lighthouse with "Light on the Hill: written under the bulb. Gillard is turning the light off, saying 'It was attracting the boats"
I have many, many favourite Kudelka cartoons but this, from 2011, is possibly one of the best Aus pol cartoons ever drawn.
Not fully confident in his political commentary tbh
Senator Walker going hard on the dixers at Estimates with some fun responses to the answers.
“Wow. Right on track then.”
“That’s awesome.”
I can’t handle anything like that. Glad you’re feeling better now.

As tomorrow beckons in all its heat, anger and frustration. Remember we are charge of the course we chart. We know where we’re going, because we know where we’ve been. This from the Yoorrook Justice Commission.

Two green man made pools in the middle of bushland. Photo taken from a distance from the track down a steep hill to the pools.
Took a slight* detour home to Canberra from Jindabyne to visit the thermal pool at Yarrangobilly Caves. 100% worth the extra 3ish hours in the car.
Screenshot from the Australian Guardian live blog: Three people reported missing after house destroyed in bushfire have been found safe Three people who were reported as missing have been found and are safe, the Victorian premier, Jacinta Allan, says. • We are grateful for everyone for supporting those people, to keep them safe. The premier is also providing an update on the man in his 60s who died near a fire ground after he was found in his vehicle. • While his death is not directly related to the fires, the fact this death occurred in such close proximity to the fire ground means this is a community that is grieving and my thoughts are with his family and the broader community. Allan, who says her own community has been told to evacuate, thanks those who have followed advice by emergency authorities saying that, as emergency warnings are issued, "communities did respond". I know how hard it is to leave your home, not knowing when or what you will return to. It has saved lives. Again, I thank Victorians for following that advice.
Thank goodness, the three missing people have been found safe.

Liking something ironically either makes fun of people who genuinely like that thing or permits you to shame yourself for liking it.
Hell yeah
Love this. We only watch Play School or Bluey because everything else seems too stimulating. Good to have some other options. ☺️
