welcome to hell that froze over, or former hell

i should add here, the foreign policy? both outcomes are awful.

so do I

I think such things will be determined in the face of bloodshed and it is not possible to determine before the fact? Grassroots will take people somewhere, but where indeed is the question.

removal of LGBT lifestyles from public view if not existence, belief that the wrong side won WW2 and various calls to murder Leftists.

His government just got in! I consider that to be extremely alarming.

I think, the problem is, those with our viewpoints would be in the minority, and thus anything which precedences change may bring about undesirable change, and I would not have faith it is the right change. Trump espouses respect for Hitler and many of his ilk have spoken about fertility rates,

as it stands, pretty much everywhere we are seeing pushback against LGBT causes and an emboldened right wing; that is terrifying. I suppose it is the right of them (and us) to fight for our lives in some civil war / revolution, but that is an outcome filled with blood.

My concern over acceleration, more than anything else, is that if a vacuum is created or agitation truly takes hold, it would lead to a resurgence in Fascism and not a resolution we would actually desire. I do not want to throw my kin (queers et al) to the wolves/Fascists.

I am not an accelerationist, I would rather things got better, but I concur that it is hard to get to any place when there is no give to the system, which is to say that the parties are unrelentingly evil.

people are dissatisfied by their discomfort, but a lack of education is rampant, around 50% of Americans read at a 6th grade or below level and roughly the same amount believe Jesus will return by 2050. When you allow their discomfort to run rampant, they vote for... Trump. Over "the economy".

project 2025 is going to suck.

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

I hope that clarifies my opinion; Harris and Trump will both suck for Palestine, but Harris would have sucked less for many marginalized groups at home and certainly would not have been ANYWHERE NEAR AS BAD IN ANY SENSE as Project 2025.

I expect those I care about dearly and less so to suffer. I do not want a genocide anywhere, but I must influence the world the best I can without endangering my status as an immigrant to a foreign country who left her home to avoid persecution; that is my privilege.

(Antizionism), but the end result was: an asshole responsible for a genocide got his seat for another many years.

I do not like this world, but I have to be pragmatic.

Where I came from, had a genocidal conservative MP who is responsible for the suicides and starvation of thousands of disabled people over austerity reform get back into power because of a vote split under FPTP between a Labour and independent candidate who had been ousted for "antisemitism"

protests IRL over the liberation of Palestinians. It is a matter of sheer pragmatism. Do I like that? God no, but we live in a horrid world. Many of my American friends are miserable about this result, as are my American partners, so there is a significant difference in this outcome.

by those very circumstances. In truth, I do not realistically expect voting numbers by leftists choosing not to engage over Harris's mediocre campaign to actually affect the election outcome, America is genuinely filled with Nazis.

Of course, I do care about people anywhere, I have participated in

I expect both sides to continue a horrible genocide, the question is whether or not more people domestically will suffer. The disenfranchisement of many by unfair voting systems which prioritise a two party shitfest is awful and depressing, but yet we are forced into decisions about the lesser evil

the neopronouners, the slur reclaimers, the plural systems, the brothers, sisters, mommies and daddies, the babyfurs, the pup hoods and leather at pride, it's all of us or none of us

you don't have to like something to understand and be accepting of it

now, more than ever, solidarity with the freaks, the weirdos, the people who are going to get pushed out even more from our queer spaces out of the sake of some kind of "respectability"

this nonsense over foreign policy is what led to the implementer of a genocide against the disabled in the UK maintaining control of his seat, thanks to a split Labour vote

equally, if what this comes down to for you, is acceleration and "increasing capitalist contradictions", i think you are likely scum and do not care about the real loss of life you endeavor to produce.

if everything for you comes down to foreign policy over domestic, that whatever is happening in the middle east right now matters more to you than the lives of trans women within your country, then you're a privileged asshole.

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

it's absolutely insane that people make absolutely no differentiation between the democrats and republicans when marginalized people's lives are on the line over the outcome. the result of that election will cause real hardships and you have people who've never touched grass ignoring that.

1 year ago 3 0 1 0

foreign policy should matter *less* to marginalized groups on the chopping block less than domestic policy which is likely to effect them and their lives. if you're insulated from that domestic policy by privilege, good for you!

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

it's the lesser of two evils. i'm sorry you're so politically radicalized that you don't differentiate between the two evils, but unfortunately as a gay trans woman, i have to.

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

maybe opposing the guy who looks up to Hitler was opposing fascism and what you have now is throwing marginalized people needlessly to the wolves in comparison to the other guy? and not marginalized people abroad; marginalized people *at home*. god, imagine thinking about LGBT people, even.
