When a sitting U.S. president makes insulting remarks about Canada and threatens its sovereignty, I’ll criticize the United States and its administration if I bloody well please. What happens in that country has a big impact in the world, so no, I won’t “stay in my own lane.”

50 years ago today, April 20, 1976:

Pitcher Mark Fidrych made his Major League debut with the Detroit Tigers. By year's end, "The Bird" had become a national sensation with his eccentric behavior and refreshing child-like personality. He led baseball with a 2.34 ERA and was A.L. Rookie of the Year.

Sad news. Nova Scotia hockey legend Bill Riley (pictured here with the St. John’s Caps NL senior hockey team), who was also revered in Newfoundland and New Brunswick from his playing days, has passed. Had the pleasure of interviewing him many years ago. A great quote! RIP.

Billy didn’t even need a pitching coach. Just fill out the starting lineup and sit back in the dugout untll it was over.

The HNIC play-by-play guy doing the Seattle-Ottawa game mispronouncing Melanson is unforgivable. A pro has to confirm all pronunciation before every game. And it’s an easy name to pronounce to boot. 👎🏻
