Maybe - PR requires much more effort vs. drinking from a bottle in the home cage. So if motivation to consume sucrose is low when effort required is low, that might be more indicative of anhedonia.

🧪 Attention those with terminated grants, including for NSF, NASA, EPA, NIH, etc:

Let Congress know about the impact of terminations via this form: democrats-science.house.gov/grantcancela...

Only Dem staff on the House Science Committee will have access (unless if you explicitly state otherwise).

I am not going to call this a Bluetorial, because I do not want to sully that term (which, at least I, find joyful).

Let’s call it a Orwellial.

‘We’re Being Punished’: NIH Tosses Some Grant Applications From Minority Researchers The sudden withdrawal affects early-career scholars who applied for a prestigious federal grant with a diversity notation — flagging that they came from underrepresented backgrounds.

We @chronicle.com reported on Friday that applications for F31 diversity fellowships had been withdrawn.

Now, multiple scholars tell me their applications have been re-assigned to their original study sections, in a reversal of instructions NIH officials gave reviewers last week. #AcademicSky

Look. If AOC can do this and knit at the same time... you can make a few phone calls. I believe in you.

The calls are making a difference. Regardless, I promise YOU will feel better doing something than doing nothing. (Doomposting = doing nothing, btw.)

Since there has been a lot of misinformation circulating since last night, I find this AAMC infographic helpful in illustrating which types of expenses are and are not covered by NIH indirect cost reimbursements.

This account is for sharing info with US scientists, both extramural and intramural to NIH, about attacks on science in the US.

Education is power, and we can help advocate for science and medicine together. 💪🧪

We are a team of NIH people. Please ask us questions you might have.

1. Resist the uncritical, unnuanced breakneck adoption of AI.
2. Reject board members and leaders who think like biz, not edu
3. Stop prostrating to biz and the narrative that skill shames uni work and student preparedness

Do these and we dramatically weaken threats and restore our voices.

First post here to announce a new paper with @purely-science.bsky.social! Oxycodone-alcohol polysubstance use prevents oxytocin from reducing alcohol intake in 🐀. This is interesting because oxytocin reduces motivation to seek both drugs separately, but not in 🐀that consumed both drugs. Link below⬇️
