How many school change initiatives quietly fade away? 🤔
That's why @efraimlerner.bsky.social and I wrote Change Starts Here - showing HOW to create change that actually sticks by putting people first.

Still pinch myself when I see our book listed on Waterstones, @efraimlerner.bsky.social
We made it!
Change doesn’t start with outsiders. It starts with your school.
At #EducationFest 2025, the Organisational Change Strand, curated by Work Collaborative explores how schools can lead from within.
Plus: grab a signed, early copy of #ChangeStartsHere, available only at the festival.
The hidden cost of every "yes" is often something valuable we already have.
- Sleep and downtime
- Time with loved ones
- Other opportunities
- Quality over quantity in current work
- Personal well-being
- Mental clarity
What is the hidden cost?

The greatest threat to education is optimism.
We get so excited about new initiatives that we miss the warning signs. I've done this myself: launched something, ignored early feedback about busy schedules, then had to redesign twice.
AI, instructional coaching, Cog Sci… same pattern repeating.
Surreal to see it out for pre-order @shaneleaning.com 😲

There’s nothing like community!
I’ve just joined the official Education Leaders community. It’s a space for leaders like us to share, learn and grow together.

Together with @shaneleaning.com we’ve been exploring this at Work Collaborative.
For teams it boils down to connecting, deeply.
To active listening, to genuinely valuing diverse perspectives, and fostering vulnerability.

Do you and your team feel safe enough to truly speak up at work?
The freedom to speak up without fear, psychological safety, popularised by the work of Amy Edmonson, is the bedrock of high-performing teams, yet research shows it declining, stifling innovation and leading to burnout.

Completely agree @everettis.bsky.social! Accountability and assessment is essential. How we view it and the focus we have on its use in education can be subtle. Are we capturing data as a sole metric for the student and their progress or is it one lens to better understand them and their progress?
Does education always have to be actionable?
How do you adapt to change?
It can be so easy to take big steps but real change often happens when it becomes part of our daily life.

Same chart-topping podcast, same great conversations - just with a new name that better reflects our growing and diverse community of education leaders worldwide
Grateful to every listener who have made this podcast such a success.
Early morning trip for a day at Bett.
Each year I visit the focus becomes slightly clearer:
-Quality over quantity.
-Focussed conversations and real connections.
-Impact over technology.
How will what I see give a voice to others?
@informededucation.com I can’t wait to meet you.
There are some brilliant things people are doing and sharing on social media, but it can sometimes lead to feelings of inadequacy. Don't let it. If you're turning up at school doing the business in the classroom you're having the biggest impact. Remember this.
Safe flight! Beyond words to have the time we had together in-person! 🙏🏼
A lifetime memory that I will always cherish ❤️
