Compatibility is overall getting better on with Proton than on Windows 11.

If you try to play FEAR or Max Payne on Steam using Win 11, it just works worse or breaks completely, meanwhile on Linux I just install the game through Steam and it works.

The reason I don't recommend Ubuntu is that I've run into issues where really basic system components would not work correctly because of my graphics card. The GUI for installing software was simply broken and I was forced to use the command line + more last time I tried (1 y ago)

... I do have some experience with Ubuntu and frankly, if you want to use the apt package manager, I recommend going for just about any other distro than Ubuntu. I use Debian for servers and Linux Mint for PCs I use personally for gaming and more.

Ubuntu uses a completely different package manager than Nobara.

Nobara also has dedicated versions for platforms like the Steam Deck, meanwhile Ubuntu has a bunch of different versions for servers and professional use.
