It’s North Wales, 1980s and a Northern Soul nightclub at the end of the pier. I read Wonderland by Patience Agbabi in one sitting: loved the immersive feel of this YA verse novel and the voice of the main character. It’s so vividly told I felt I was there! @fireflypress.bsky.social

I loved Cathy Faulkner’s verse novel Digging For Victory so I can’t wait to read this one set after WW1 exploring the aftermath it’s had in the village it is set. It centres around the search for stained-glass window from the church, that was hid during the war. @fireflypress.bsky.social

This one of the first two in a new Firefly Classics series, a re-issuing of classic Welsh writing. I am a huge Catherine Fisher fan. Her storytelling is superb and this one I’ve yet to read is a spooky tale steeped in folklore set on the Gwent levels. @fireflypress.bsky.social

This is the second in the new Firefly Classics series for YA readers. It won the 2002 Tir na n-Og award and is about Georgie, 14yrs old, who hasn’t spoken in years. It’s raw, hopeful, uplifting story about mental health and the power of care and kindness. @fireflypress.bsky.social
