He was known for running vndb, a website he created back in 2007

The moderation team is working to preserve the website but cannot provide details at the moment

There is a fairly large section with a low amount of story near the end of the game, but interacting/staying there is entirely optional for getting extra stuff mentioned in-lore. I think that's where the complaint comes from, though I disagree with it anyway; I like FFV's story quite a bit.

9-nine is kinda rocky, some of the chapters are pretty mediocre others can feel very good. Haven't read the other one.

I've finished both (only the VNs though) and I think I'm kind of like this. I think they were good VNs but not peak/my favorites. I don't recommend it much to others due to the big timesink and also don't plan on revisiting them. I do think about umineko fairly often due to the OST, however.

RF is a HM spinoff with lots of kind of RPG elements (dungeons/combat, more focus on having an overarching story) while also having the classic farming and social element of HM/Stardew

In other words it's great! I particularly like RF3, but RF4 special is also pretty good.

If it goes over 6 months I restart it usually, except for stuff like Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons where I'm fine taking it way slower.

Aside from an ethical issue standpoint (job losses, training set, etc), from a quality point of view AI translations just aren't that good even as a base. Plus, more than just "translated", things should be "localized", and that requires an actual person translating as AI can't do it.
