Turn your Mac’s notch into a focus timer.
Studious for macOS is coming soon. It will sync with your iPhone, letting you start a focus session and block apps on both devices with just one tap.

I redesigned the onboarding of my app by making users experience the core feature from the very first tap. Really happy with how it turned out.
Push-ups to unblock apps
FYI other apps have done it before. In Studious, this is one of many random challenges users can complete to unblock distractions during a focus session.
Touch grass to unblock apps
To give you some context, users asked me to make it harder to unblock apps in the middle of a focus session. So I obliged.
It’s optional, but if you turn it on, you’ll have to type a random sentence. There’ll be different difficulty levels, from mildly annoying to truly painful.
Product designers usually obsess over removing friction. For once, I’m doing the opposite.
Didn’t expect that nearly 3/4 of my conversions would happen at the end of the onboarding before users even tried the app.
Takeaway: don’t be afraid to show your paywall early.
Just added a new mode to Studious, focus with no time limit. You just hit start and focus until you’re done.
For now I’m calling it “Open session” but I’m not sold on the name yet…
What would you guys call it? 🤔
I can’t believe no one built a focus timer that syncs with your calendar. So I did.
Whoever took the time to send a beta feedback at 2:17am just to say “Perfect”, you’re a legend

Working on a highly requested feature for Studious:
Focus sessions with no time limit.
Thanks for dropping the link, gonna download the image in full res!
Definitely, but they already have some great marketing material
Edit: actually might not be shot on iPhone, just looked it up and they have a few different cameras on board

The idea vs the execution
My daily ritual before I do the work
Made an app that connects Apple Calendar, Reminders and Screen Time in a single app to help me be more productive.

I finally launched my app on the App Store!
Studious brings your calendar, tasks and focus timer in a single app. This lets you:
- Automatically start timers during events
- Block apps directly from your calendar
- Check off tasks as you focus
Give it a try ↓
I tried using push notifications using Upstash and Vercel which works perfectly, only to realize the rate limit is ~40/hour (low priority)…
Has anyone ever tried to implement this? and did you find a way out of the timerInterval supremacy?
Technical question for iOS devs, how do you update a custom timer in a Live Activity?
I hate using a Text(timerInterval) because of the lack of formatting options, and the hh:mm:ss format literally makes me feel like my phone is about to self destruct.
Is it just me or has “vibe coding” lost all meaning?
I feel like we should draw the line between asking AI to code for you and actually code with AI as a tool.
One is prompting, the other is still engineering.
This was tough to get right, but worth it
