In July, our Family Reunification and Child Protection teams conducted a training session for refugee-led organizations (RLOs) RELON Kenya and Youth Voices Community on child protection, screening, referral pathways, and key safeguards when working with children.
On #WorldHumanitarianDay, we recognize and honor those who have lost their lives working for humanitarian causes.
We also celebrate those who are still working in humanitarian fields— especially those in refugee response, which has experienced unprecedented upheaval in 2025.

Eventually, Claire completed RefugePoint’s business training, where she learned business management and financial literacy skills. From there, Claire charted a new course.
Today, Claire runs several growing businesses, from phone accessories to event décor and honey sales.
When her husband fell seriously ill, Claire connected with RefugePoint’s Urban Refugee Protection Program (URPP), which partners with refugees in Nairobi to help them become self-reliant. RefugePoint worked alongside Claire, first providing stabilizing services like food and medical care.
After fleeing violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Claire* and her family journeyed on foot, eventually reaching Kenya with the help of truck drivers. Starting over wasn’t easy: she began by hawking bottled water to make ends meet.
RefugePoint recently joined the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and organizations around the world at a global meeting in Geneva to face this crisis head-on.
