The Mind Parasites by Colin Wilson was written in 1967. It’s about telepathy and telekinesis. If I recall correctly, there is a discussion of psychiatry, but I read the book a long time ago.

I got used to large monitors back in my working days. It’s hard to give them up once you get the habit.

I think your crop was better. As I recall, I was focused on limiting clutter from the background at the time. I could have edited it better. Editing iPhone pictures on my iPad, I tend to be less careful than when I am editing on my desktop in Lightroom.

Funny thing, I didn’t notice that you cropped it until you pointed it out. I had go back and look at the original.

Beautiful photograph

A monochrome image of a man standing on railroad tracks looking down the tracks. The man is holding his hands behind his back. Directly behind him is what appears to be an old railroad signal. In front of the man is an old railroad boxcar. There are old wooden buildings and railroad artifacts scattered around. Everything is weathered and decaying. A second set of tracks runs parallel. Beyond the tracks and buildings are rolling hills crossed by a road in one direction and power lines in another. Beyond the hills are mountains in haze. The sky is overcast with dark cumulus clouds that give the image a slightly ominous feel. Three power lines run across the top of the photograph.

For about the first year after I retired, I would get a sense of dread, but it would be rapidly replaced by joy upon the realization that I never had to go back to the office again.

The river is low, but from the top of the gorge, it pretty much always looks like that - even in the spring. Beautiful shot.
