‘We have to live in the space between “Everything is going to be okay” and “Everything is fucked,” between denial and despair.’ But this still suggests that history isn’t ours to make so much as something that happens to us.
Does a life like that matter? If it does, does the mattering continue in a future that is totally unaware of it? Do we have to be remembered later for life to matter now?
