#Vancouver shouldn't cut 1 of 2 dedicated sex worker safety planner roles the city funds - NOT with FIFA coming to town, given pressures it (& related policing) will put on sex workers.
Instead, ABC majority on Council should cut the $200,000 increase it gave to Ken Sim's Mayor's office budget!

Just finished the audio book last weekend. A powerful and moving book. Thanks for writing. Congratulations on the nomination.
Me quote tweeting the mayor saying “bread and circuses except without the bread”. The mayors tweet reads: Vancouver should become the next home of a Major League Baseball team. With the MLB publicly expressing interest in expansion in the near future, we see an opportunity to position our city as the next home for a franchise. This could be an opportunity to bring something truly special to Vancouver. An MLB team would be a significant step forward for our city and would create lasting memories for fans across generations.
Today we heard that homelessness increased by 12% last year
the real estate agent to podcaster pipeline in Vancouver is particularly strong because we have a surplus of confident men who have way less homes to sell than in the past and excess money from said homes
they’re almost as common as a dentistry on the ground level of a mediocre mixed-use condo

The bluesky address is @attie.ai and it really needs to be in the top five accounts blocked on this platform. This is honestly some of the most tonedeaf shit I’ve seen from BS and thats saying something
I don't think people in my field universally agree on anything ... and that's ok.
The World Cup should be an opportunity to build community and not one that displaces community. The VSSL provided a valuable service to the DTES and other at-risk communities, providing a moment of reprieve through joy and play. Local street soccer is more important than the FIFA World Cup. #vanpoli

Hey folks - so word is out that I'm seeking nomination to run for city council with @vangreens.bsky.social. I ran for council in 2022. I'm a housing justice activist - I've advised and represented thousands of tenants. Back in 2021 I had this to say about how we need to do better by renters 🧵
As Vancouver prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Vancouver Street Soccer League has been forced off the field due to park restrictions, leaving players without a vital community space that's supported people facing homelessness, addiction and other barriers since 2008.

Moving ideas: An agenda for expanding the political scope of the policy mobilities approach Eugene McCann Volume 50, Issue 2 Abstract This paper addresses the policy mobilities approach’s relative inattention to counter-hegemonic activism and contentious politics. It outlines one way to expand the literature’s engagement with the political. By introducing the notion of “moving ideas”—ideas that circulate among places and also move people to political action—it outlines five avenues for policy mobilities scholars to advance the approach: situated knowledge on-the-move; persuasive storytelling; encounters in physical “truth-spots”; the temporalities of activism; and the role of “futuring” in policy change. It ends with notes on the framework’s possible applicability to numerous social movements and its challenges and limitations.
In new issue of Progress in Human Geography: "Moving ideas: An agenda for expanding the political scope of the policy mobilities approach." Connects policy mobilities & social movements studies. Focus on geogs of counterhegemonic ideas. Abstract 👇 #academicsky
