Oh, no, I don't think it's controversial per se. It's just that it has to compete with much-loved classical versions, and people usually make a face when I say it's my favourite (again, together with Muppet's!) I recommend it, it makes for a lovely, christmassy evening!

May be controversial, but the Robert Zemeckis one starring Jim Carrey as Scrooge is up there with Muppett's for me. I love the details.

They are two stand-alone novels and they are wonderful. The Truth is very philosophical, and hilarious, and Monstrous Regiments is a brilliant feminist adventure novel. Also, since 'tis the season: treat yourself and read Hogfather!
