The Departed with the profanity dubbed over for TV is more “off looking” than any kaiju movie I’ve ever seen.

I just finished KSR's Red Mars, and I read a review where someone complains that "at least a fifth of this book was just descriptions of people driving endless distances around Mars and writing about the landscape," and I just, yeah, that exactly is what I loved the most.
I wish Toho would make a Shin Godzilla V. Hedorah movie.
(This story is apocryphal as is its antecedent, but the book is very real and very good and I'm happy about the tiny little part I played in it.)
A while back, @dodgyboffin.com sent me an email containing only the following:
BECOMING ALIEN$
and now today fresh from my mailbox, here we are.
Get it wherever fine books are sold but especially from @mzspress.bsky.social from whence it will arrive autographed.

If I never accomplish anything else in life, I accomplished this.
THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE is life.*
* Stuff that happens in a linear fashion without meaning.
I was just telling a couple of friends essentially this a few weeks ago. It’s one reason I love Palm Sunday.
I hope George Lucas has watched ANDOR.
Lucas was going to use THE BATTLE OF ALGIERS as the model for APOCALYPSE NOW. Then he made STAR WARS which has a bit of that ALGIERS spirit. Now we finally have full-fledged THE BATTLE OF ALGIERS BUT STAR WARS. Amazing.
I just ordered my copy of @dodgyboffin.com's second mutation of Becoming Alien. I'm looking forward to it bursting out of my mailbox soon. mzs.press/PRE-ORDER-SI...
What’s stopping you from making your city Go-Cart U.S.A.?
“If only the rocks and stones could speak! What stories they would tell us!”
We are living in the greatest era of Godzilla.
Chuck Norris didn't die. Death came for him, Chuck killed him, and Chuck Norris is now Death.
I'm continuing my son's Star Wars education post-OG trilogy by showing him the two Ewok movies. These Ewoks don't blink.
I think he may get to make IN THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS.
HOPPERS: I really appreciate how deeply felt this expression of ecological angst is. I don't know that I've seen anything this earnest on this subject since POM POKO.
Fewer scrotums in this than in POM POKO, though there is a moment when a beaver conspicuously adjusts his tail before sitting down.
Ethan Hunt’s elevator escape fight in M:I-III is better than Capt. America’s because Hunt does it without superpowers and strapped to a gurney.
You don't even have to squint.
Among many other things, I love how SHIN GODZILLA could be a stealth live-action Nausicaä prequel.
Getting a lot of 'Star Wars prequel’ vibes from this, says guy watching Ben-Hur who has only ever seen the Star Wars prequels and about 3000 other movies.
Do you think that's the same Grumple from the ice show? Because I do.
Hawke and Hamm is it. If I ever meet one of them I'm going to suggest they make this together.
My wife and I have multiple running shared lists where we recast franchises with a little twist: an all American Harry Potter; the Ocean's movies but no one is older than 30; a brand new, OG-run MCU.
I'd watch Hawke as Gus and Hamm as Call. Hawke is loquacious. Hamm can be laconic. They could both carry the humor well too.
Yeah! Damon and Affleck have been doing that for years. Affleck would be a good Call with anyone. The best Affleck roles are the ones where he doesn't have to talk much.
Ooh! That's good!
That would be kind of great. McConaughey definitely seems a little older than him and that's how it should be between Gus and Call. Schroder also has a little Alan Ladd about him, and that's my older era actor casting for Call.
