Despite tissue coming from 23 patients, the same four subtypes and their characteristic synaptic interactions were conserved within and across individuals. This suggests that increased diversity and subtype-specific interactions are general principles of human cortical organization.

Using multi-neuron patch-clamp, we observed a great heterogeneity of electrophysiological properties across neurons and identified 4 subtypes: SlowAP, FastAP, DoubSpk & LowRin. These subtypes exhibited distinct morphological features and specific connectivity rules.
