π¨ Very happy to share our *Neuron* paper: Rethinking neuroaesthetics authors.elsevier.com/a/1miuj3BtfH...
With @hansopdebeeck.bsky.social & Johan Wagemans, we argue that neuroaesthetics should move beyond a focus on beauty alone and embrace the multidimensional nature of aesthetic experience.

A PhD candidate would conduct research in the field of cognitive control, multitasking and aging, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Eva Van den Bussche and Dr. Gethin Hughes.
we should put whoever makes broccoli rubber bands in charge of more stuff
This is so, so well-articulated.
I want someone to explain why wearing new york yankees hats has become fashionable in Belgium of all places. As a Jays fan... this is torture.
In my >25 years as a researcher, this is one of my favorite and most personally meaningful studies to come out of my lab:

New preprint with @SamJung @timbrady.bsky.social and @violastoermer.bsky.social: osf.io/preprints/ps.... Here we uncover what might be driving the βmeaningfulness benefitβ in visual working memory. Studies show that real objects are remembered better in VWM tasks than abstract stimuli. But why? 1/

1/7 Can infants recognise the world around them? πΆπ§ As part of the FOUNDCOG project, we scanned 134 awake infants using fMRI. Published today in Nature Neuroscience, our research reveals 2-month-old infants already possess complex visual representations in VVC that align with DNNs.
The cerebellum supports high-level language?? Now out in @cp-neuron.bsky.social, we systematically examined language-responsive areas of the cerebellum using precision fMRI and identified a *cerebellar satellite* of the neocortical language network!

Pretty much no one in Canada thought there would actually be a trade deal, and the general vibe is to just tune out whatever false hope is coming from the other side. But it's still crazy that a conservative message from a conservative US president is now too much for the US.

Wab Kinew is with the University of Winnipeg and University College of the North. He says: βEvery day, all of us speak indigenous languages - even if we donβt realize it. Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Now weβre taking action to keep those languages alive. Starting in 2026, new indigenous languages degree programs at UWinnipeg and UCN will train the next generation of Ojibwe and Cree teachers. Letβs lift up our shared heritage and build One Manitoba for all of us.β
Manitoba is expanding its degree programs in Ojibwe and Cree. This is an example of the good that can happen when you elect a progressive, indigenous leader to run things.
A new paper from the lab, using 7T fMRI and MEG to shed light on how we read, specifically how the visual system encodes strings of letters and moves from retinotopic to ordinal neural codes.
