Good news, seen from my mobility perspective.
Mobility needs of men and women are different (eg women trip-chain more), and also that women are underrepresented in planning and decision-making.

EUROBIKE AWARD 2025 ❗The innovation award for bikes and the future mobility universe! I'm happy to be part of the jury this year. It would be great to see a good gender balance among the people submitting & the people the products are targeting. More info here: eurobike.com/frankfurt/en...

Trump has announced the withdrawal of the USA from the Paris Agreement, but the cities are at the heart of climate change.
American cities have already demonstrated their ability to oppose policies that are insane and suicidal for the environment.
City by city, resistance will be present every day.
This crucial study from Rambøll by @mobimaw.bsky.social ++ highlights how men go a-b, while women and caretakers trip chain, bringing kids and stuff. womenmobilize.org/wp-content/u...
I wrote an article about gender and transport on LinkedIn investigating the question: "What if more women were working in transport?" You can read it here: www.linkedin.com/pulse/what-m...

READ: Barcelona has a plan to create a city-wide network of quieter streets that are easier and safer to travel on foot or by bike. Instead of bumper-to-bumper cars, streets will be lined with trees, play parks, bike-lanes, benches and green people-places. #Barcelona

THREAD: I’m going to share this thread here to clearly state my perspective on electric vehicles, car dependency and better cities, for all those who frequently ask me about it, including media, elected leaders and many others. Here goes. Please share it frequently if you think it will help. 🧵#EVS

IMPORTANT: “Do bike lanes really cause more traffic congestion? Here's what the research says. Studies from around the world show bike lanes ease congestion, reduce emissions and are a boon to businesses.”
And removing them would cost a LOT & make traffic worse. #Toronto

I just finished this. Lots to think about. It's FREE and takes about an hour.
Now to try and get some of it into the Highland Local Transport Strategy ;)
Happy you found it relevant! And thank you for sharing! 🙏🏻
“They cut speed limits, changed street design, removed space for cars… Now it appears that work is paying off. #Oslo & #Helsinki are reaping the rewards of committed action on making their roads safer, reducing pedestrian fatalities to zero last year.” #VisionZero www.theguardian.com/world/2020/m...

Elon Musk loves to talk about how safe Teslas are and how their autonomous driving systems are safer than humans.
But new data from the US road safety regulator shows Teslas have the highest rate of fatal accidents among all US vehicle brands.
The increased likelihood of death from a vehicle collision as travel speed increases.
Remember, whenever you hear that “speed wasn’t a factor” in a deadly crash, what they mean is that the car involved wasn’t technically speeding. At least not by much. It presumes that the speed limit wasn’t too high to begin with.
When it comes to death from collisions, SPEED IS ALWAYS a factor.
Is gender part of your mobility lens? I wrote about that a couple of years ago, but it's still relevant: marketplace.eiturbanmobility.eu/insights/is-...

Vancouver bike-lane filled with people on bikes
Never forget, when you’re being asked to prove that safe bike-lanes or pedestrian crossings across unsafe conditions are ‘needed,’ it's hard to justify a bridge by the number of people swimming across a raging river.
New day, new sneckdowns!
Notice how well the snow reveals what parts of the roadway and sidewalk are in use, and where people cross.
Desire paths of the few dozen people who have left home early in the morning.
This is important.
Years ago, while I was advising the City of Sydney Australia on various things, there was an INFAMOUS day where a particularly bad state-level minister of roads was stuck in traffic and saw bike riders zooming by his limousine in a well-used, safe, protected bike-lane.

There’s one thing I know for sure after 33 years working in cities all over the world — there’s nothing inevitable or unchangeable about the way your city is. Your city is the result of decisions & choices. Like every city. Different decisions or choices could have been made, and STILL can be made.
Ahahahahhahahahaha.
