His banter last weekend was pretty funny! When I saw them many times in the aughts, he never really said anything, so I like seeing his weird little personality peep out.

Does your university or public library have a Kanopy account? It has The Criterion Collection and a "Film School classics" line up.

Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action Advocates fear such settlements will “financially ruin” the AI industry.

AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.

A historical photo of Ivan Illich being interviewed by a camera crew. Speech bubbles have been added to the image. The speech bubble from the interviewer says "The role of the university is...?" and the speech bubble from Illich says "...to resist AI".

I've posted my seminar on 'The role of the university is to resist AI', which takes as its text Ivan Illich's 'Tools for Conviviality'. danmcquillan.org/cpct_seminar...

In my Short Story Writing class (300 level), I had my students read "A Temporary Matter" by Jhumpa Lahiri. Before we discussed it, I asked them to get in groups and write an AITA (Am I the Asshole?) style post that summarized the story. They had a blast and the posts were spot on.

Last week, a man died in a plane crash while transporting rescue dogs. I was deeply saddened, because we're mourned for the life we lived and the choices we made. Think of the word "wake." What will be left in your wake? A glimmer of humanity? Or record-breaking profits?

If I vowed to organize 100 notable small press books for 2025, who's in as reviewers? All genres, all small & micro presses.

(Does this already exist? If no, why not? If yes, disregard everything to this point.)
