The Banal Horror of Jimmy Fallon Under the sterile blue lights of his studio, Fallon laughs endlessly at the same pseudo-jokes, rubs elbows with Trump and Sam Altman, and ushers in the death of culture.

In a world of Jimmy Fallons, be a Stephen Colbert, a John Oliver, or even a Jimmy Kimmel.

I am not a fan of organized religion, but I AM a fan of history, and the fact that the Pope is currently fighting online with a world leader who photoshops pictures of himself as Jesus is as good as anything I ever read about in university. Get him, your Holiness, waste him on X the Everything App

I have enough beads and chips left that I can make another necklace just like the first and send it to my friend, but I'm furious about this. She should not have had her pleasure in a simple little gift marred in this way.

Again, DO BETTER, CANADA POST. 6/

The last time I sent an untracked package internationally, it was "lost in the mail" and I was out $80. Again, no compensation, no investigation.

#CanadaPost needs to do better than this. They need to be accountable for *every* package, and for acts of theft on the part of their employees. 5/

I believe this was a case of deliberate theft. Someone saw "necklace" on the list of contents on the package's mailing label, and knew that it wasn't being tracked. So they decided to open the package & take the necklace because they knew Canada Post wouldn't do a damn thing about it. 4/ #CanadaPost

I tried to report the missing necklace to #CanadaPost, but I don't have a tracking number for the package. It seems packages without tracking numbers aren't eligible for compensation. One also can't request an investigation if they go missing, are damaged, or arrive minus some of their contents. 3/

My friend received the package yesterday, April 10th. There was a note on it from Royal Mail saying the package had arrived damaged. When she opened it, it contained the card, slipper, bookmarks, and... a ribbon. No box, no necklace, no damage to anything. 2/ #CanadaPost

On March 30th, I mailed a little package to a friend in England via Canada Post. The package contained a card, and some little gifts I had made for my friend: a knitted slipper, four bookmarks made out of old greeting cards, and a necklace in a ribbon-tied box. 1/ #CanadaPost

I hadn't seen that or any other allegations against Eric Swalwell before I read the linked San Francisco Chronicle article and replied to it. But as I read it, I kept thinking, "He's done this before...."

The victim's account definitely gave me the sense that Swalwell had done similar things before. His behaviour seemed so systematic, so practiced.

I expect that there will be other accusers stepping forward.

The pundit and columnist class meltdown from folks who have never supported the NDP honestly suggests to me that the NDP is doing something significant that’s worth paying attention to.

Those who defend power tend to screech the loudest when power is genuinely threatened.

Mark Carney is really going on social media and condemning Iran for its "unprovoked attacks on the region" with his whole chest, and I just think we should all mail him pictures of the bombed Iranian children's school until he gets the fucking picture.

‘A new world is being born’: author Rebecca Solnit on the ‘slow revolution’ the far right cannot tolerate It’s easy to focus on authoritarians and their petty victories. But zoom out and the picture is more encouraging, says the woman who popularised the term ‘mansplaining’, whether it’s in feminism, or t...

It's easy to feel despairing these days. Rebecca Solnit looks back on the history of positive political change and reminds us that activists are always working against the odds and trying to accomplish what seems impossible... until they succeed. #LetNotYourHeartBeTroubled #RebeccaSolnit

A friend in Cuba just notified me that every single patient in that hospital that was on ventilators died tonight. I don't have words.

There's something supremely saddening and enraging about seeing a hospital running on bare minimum power. Thinking about dialysis patients, babies in NICU, and others tonight in Cuba. This is a blockade of death.

The United States caused this. The United States is responsible for the deaths of these innocent people.
