Congratulations! That is so awesome!

I usually do something like that as:

Title of thing
-session 1 info
-session 2 info

To make it clear that it’s the same paper/presentation/seminar/etc. but also that it had multiple instantiations, each of which is going to be different

I know intellectually that paper weight matters because hello my job, but it is still WILD to hold the @subpress.bsky.social edition and standard hardcover edition of the same book and be able to immediately clock the weight difference when taking one book off the shelf and putting the other book on

When you're innocently drinking coffee and @subpress.bsky.social sends an email saying they have extra copies of a book you want from an author you desperately want to be on the preorder list for and you slam buy and yay you made it before it sold out again and lolsob your budget and that happened

Thanks!

I haven't quite hit the 100% (four left! Karlach, Orin's fight, and then two for the final battle) but so close! Just one... more... run...

(I now need to scrub my brain and have lightly started an explorer-difficulty run with Gale origin because I want to pet Tara and save the tieflings.

Although Veilguard calls.)

Also, it let me see what happens if you go the Sharran and Ascended routes for Shadowheart and Astarion. As someone who likes playing out branching story lines and seeing what happens, BG3 kills me because early stuff impacts later stuff and it's too much to do that way. It's *amazing*, but also)

(I ran an evil Dark Urge, total murder everywhere style, to rack up XP early and often (hi, honor run that ended with the fucking owlbear suddenly being TWO VERY MAD OWLBEARS) plus to set myself up for a better Orin encounter, because omfg that fucking fight.

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

it took a ridiculous number of hours, and I did a wild amount of thinking through my party's character builds, but I managed an honor run on BG3! *falls over*

Also, fun fact: if you complete an honor run before a tactician run, you get both trophies. 🤣

(Unrelated, but I also appreciate that it has illustrated endpapers.)

"'There's bound to be something in my library. The problem would be finding it. My grandfather collected rare books the way that some men collect butterflies. Alas, his passion for books did not extend to a passing for cataloguing them.'"

A+, no notes, ignore the cataloger cracking up in the corner

I just finished A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher (v. enjoyable, do recommend if the description sounds like remotely your jam), and I understand why everyone mentions THE HORSE, because, well, that sure was a thing.

But, friends, I am *dying* at the library.

Problem solved!

I had skipped Internet Archive l, starting with institutional repositories, because Internet Archive has been down, but it’s back up! And vol 1 has been scanned as a volume, including the title page, huzzah!

(I appreciate the offer, though! )

Me, a few hours ago: Birds of America is fairly popular, surely I will easily be able to find a scan of the engraved title page

This sure was a thing I thought

They’re my go to delivery, and I may generally order three mains and an appetizer so that I have meals for the week

This is so hard! Especially gesturing to the community-building aspect, succinctly.

All I have is “self-tags”, which is (too?) close to [post] tags. But it feels like the same sort of function, just about the user instead of the post?

(Not a single word, but fits in the adjective-plural noun 😆)

Lovely people!

Several years ago, I wrote a book called MIDDLEGAME. I still think it's one of the best things I've ever written. It's about math and language and alchemy and sibling relationships and breaking things and fixing things and growing up.

@brennab.bsky.social and I have entire rituals around viewing the, ahem, interpretations of American pies. This may involve alcohol. (But not full-fledged shots because owwwwww)

I was in Boston for a long weekend, and the funniest tiny thing that I had missed was the sun rising and setting when it should.

(Why isn't Indiana Central time, she cried for the nth time. 😭) (Yes, I know it's a whole thing, but the sun!)

I'm visiting a friend with two very good dogs, and the vibe is very "you have two hands for a reason"

Since it doesn't involve, you know, actually paying people more, I'd say your odds are good!

Lol, I unsubscribed YEARS ago to that one. But I miss RBMS-L. I just want to 1) receive RBMS announcements in my inbox, 2) with intelligible and functional subjects, 3) and having attachments actually included with the message. Having a functional search for the archives would be a bonus 😭

Okay, but what if we all rebelled and started using mailing lists again instead of ALA Connect
