I wish there was an interaction that was specifically āthanks for posting thisā that wasnāt ālike.ā Because I donāt like a damn thing about temps in the 80s. But I do like that you posted about it. Many internal struggles as a result.

It's no secret I'm a fan of Amiga systems. Last year at VCF Midwest I picked up an A1200, a system which quickly has become my favorite. Tonight, let's play some games on it and do some tinkering, maybe do some networking?

Here it is, my annual reminder: don't spray spring dandelions with roundup. One flower can be visited by 100+ bees in a day, and your chemicals will kill all of them. š»
NASA and Mamdani are proving that Americans are desperate to see their money spent in ways they feel good about.
This, however, is not the same thing as simply spending the money on things we would feel good about but never know happened. People need to be able to see it.
idk, sounds better than stressing about an international connection and either running like hell across terminals or hanging out at an airport for 7 hours. Especially if youāre traveling with kids. Traveling somewhere that far away sucks no matter what; fewer flights = less stress

Did you know that a 3-inch hailstone can fall to the ground as fast as 107 mph?

All those suckers were doing yard work yesterday when it was 85 and sunny - Iām like the only one out here mowing this afternoon when the weather is perfect for it
Whoa you werenāt kidding, front is bookinā it! Definitely happy to avoid the big storms (and be able to re-open my windows sooner)
@serwewx.bsky.social where did this humidity come from? I know you said it would be muggy this morning but dew point was like in the 30s all day yesterday and mid-60s this morning? Feels SO gross out of nowhere. Just moist air coming up from the gulf? At this point I'll take the incoming cold, yuck
Great job on the severe coverage! Itās bonkers what a powerhouse weather team you guys have.
NO THANK YOU. My roof is only 2 years old. My dog canāt handle another summer of constant roof construction noise š©
Hey @riksrandomretro.com we can find space for these right?
Just casually dropping a sub-5 min Pips hard puzzle like itās nothing š
Would love some kind of reverse vacation situation where everyone else goes away for a week so I can relax and not spend any money at home
Your kids will always remember having a present dad growing up. Day job (likely) wonāt remember/care about anything, so only put in enough to keep job security. Youāve got a lot of support from this community, nobody wants to see you burn out. Consider taking a step back to breathe for a bit. ā¤ļø
I would very much like to watch a documentary about this now. Youāll have to share any good resources you find!
Afraid I donāt have any answers but itās really cool that youāre taking this into consideration, and now Iām curious about it as well!
Absolutely. No easy task Iām sure, and you probably rarely hear from the people you do help, but theyāre out there!

For the ones who reach out to me directly I'd say no - they're smart people who think critically about most things. I kinda think they just don't have a lot of anxiety in general so they haven't developed coping skills, but after having a close call now they're anxious and don't know what to do.
Omaha: I know I sound like a shill but the First Alert 6 Weather WOWT app is really good for local weather. I only recently learned about it but it's weather-only so no news bloat, decent UI, some ads but not terrible, and you get all the weather info you need to know at a glance.
Case in point, I've had 2 people ask me if they should cancel evening plans today & my son's soccer practice got moved indoors. 3 years ago we could be in a PDS watch and nobody noticed, I was the weird one for keeping an eye on it. Now somebody shares a random map from FB and stuff gets canceled.
Glad the owners of wowt seem to be investing for the future. I really want local news to succeed and stay relevant, but they have to adapt to how millennials/gen z get news & weather. Lots of people just arenāt going to watch tv news regardless but at least now you can reach them with a weather app
So @serwewx.bsky.social I got the FA6 wx app and imo itās the best Omaha wx app by a mile. I love that itās decoupled from the news, thatās HUGE. Finally have something I can tell people to get when they ask what to use instead of their phoneās default weather app. Wish I had known about it sooner š¤¦āāļø

Went by about 2 miles from my house. Bit of a turning point for a lot of non-weather-aware folks I know; suddenly something they never thought twice about was a reality, and there was a big uptick in weather anxiety. Iāve spent a lot of time since then talking people down when storms are forecast
