I have a sentimental attachment to the plant because my grandmother had a small lovely version in a planter on the front step of her old South Carolina home. She called it a “shrimp plant”. I thought maybe she had made up the name. Nope.

How I was qualified to be in the same room with him I don’t know. I went to a couple of his masterclasses and we had a couple dinners together. Here I’m at NAB 2016 with Dan Chung the left, Bruce, Paul Antico (I think) and Matthew Allard. A second shot when Bruce joined some friends for a dinner.

Was saddened to learn of the passing of Bruce Logan, something of a legend in the VFX world having worked with Douglas Trumbull and Stanley Kubrick on 2001, having been the Director of Photography for the original Tron and having contributed the gas jet explosions at the beginning of Bladerunner.
