Thoughts After A Hate Crime I was assaulted last night.

Yesterday, I was the victim of a hate crime here in Montpellier. I can't help but think about what and why it happened.

That means that in just one minute, 105,480 animals die for food.

Add that up over the course of the year, and over 55 billion are slaughtered annually.

How many animals die for food every second? Based on 2020 data from the USDA, that number is 1,758. At first glance, this might not seem like much, but added up over time, the sheer number of animals killed for food is almost too large to comprehend.

I'm thinking about re-reading Hervé Le Tellier's "The Anomaly" all of a sudden but I still have "The Annual Banquet of the Gravediggers' Guild" to finish. So many books left to read!

(The metaphor of wine cellars for unread books just doesn't work for me, since I don't really drink alcohol)

I guess I'm slowly easing myself out of my fiction slump. There was a period not so long ago when I struggled to read novels. Science fiction seems to be doing the trick, although I've yet to finish "This is How You Lose the Time War" — maybe the writing is just too convoluted for me?

I just finished reading "The Ministry of Time" and for a moment was obsessed with finding more photos of Commander Graham Gore.

Enjoyed the book, the ending felt a bit unsatisfying though.

Also must've been tragic to be a woman before feminism was a thing, imagine being horny but living in a society which judged you for sleeping around, so you had to summon a literal demon to fool around with

I saw "Nosferatu" last night and I couldn't help but think Nicholas Hoult did this to prove he could make a more serious vampire movie after "Renfield"

Si c'était seulement possible, j'aimerais disparaître complètement de Facebook et Instagram. J'ai déjà arrêté de poster sur X à cause d'immense sexisme et transphobie immense de la plateforme. C'est de pire en pire

It offers no explanations of its history nor a deeper exploration of its characters. It's just a bomb exploding after another to keep you awake enough to make it to the end. I'd say it didn't age well but I don't think it deserved the awards and nominations it received in the first place.

It's a rowdy film that felt it was made for an audience of boys who refuse to grow up. Guns, idiotic humor, the sheer confidence that comes simply from being a cishet man. Even the cheesy “Love saves the day!” ending felt contrived and undeserved.

I just saw "The Fifth Element" for the first time, and I don't understand why this got so many good reviews. It feels like the filmic version of a clickbait. Visually interesting perhaps, but the story is horrible, reducing women and cultures into clichés.
