This isn't perfect, but I love it and it is a single long-exposure shot, not a composite. Rarely for me, this show had a bit of a plan behind it or at least the idea of looking across the bow with a long enough time exposure to render bergy bits in the water with streaks. 1/

Every intelligent speculative fiction universe missed the mark by assuming things would happen for reasons that make sense

Right. Your choice is to a) stop using the phrase, because you don't want to offend people, or b) keep using the phrase, despite the risk of offending people. This is a minor thing that happens to everyone.

Tweet by “Secretary of War” Pete Hegseth:
“The War Department is once again restoring freedom to our Joint Force.
We are discarding the mandatory flu vaccine requirement, effective immediately.”
Below there is a video of the announcement for his many, many illiterate fans

Behind Hegseth’s big stupid face, a painting can be seen.

The painting is of George Washington crossing the Delaware. It is by Emanuel Leutze.

An article from the National Parks Service: Smallpox,
Inoculation, and the Revolutionary War
Boston National Historical Park
During the 1700s, smallpox raged through the American colonies and the Continental Army. Smallpox impacted the Continental Army severely during the Revolutionary War, so much so that George Washington mandated inoculation for all Continental soldiers in 1777. Just fifty-six years earlier, in 1721, Bostonian doctors and clergy introduced the procedure to the American colonies.
Without the vision and determination of these early Bostonians in normalizing inoculation, Washington may not have made the decision to mandate inoculation for the Continental Army. Though it was a controversial action, many historians credit the medical mandate with the colonists' victory in the Revolutionary War and the creation of the United States of America.

It's a common Ghanaian name (and apparently common in other parts of the world too, but all the Nanas I've known have been Ghanaian)

Opinion | Measles Took My Daughter. This Is What I Want Everyone to Know.

I hope this heartbreaking column gets through to some vaccine skeptics. I'm sharing a gift link in case you want to pass it along. (And if this is too much for you today and you need to skip by it, just do that.)

Two lines of three dimensional sans-serif letters colored in gradients of blue and purple reading ‘Maybe it will/Happen today’. Above the ‘y’ in’ today’ and with its bottom point nestled neatly into the fork of the letter it’s a similarly dimensional golden pentagram with little flares of golden light glinting off its vertices. The entire lockup is superimposed over a glittering rainbow as it all streaks together through a black void.

We’re clearing out the garage and apparently my partner has a big bag of deer bones there. He’s had them since before we met. He’s moved them cross-country several times.

Yes, he said he started drawing it on his hand every day before he knew there was a name for it. (What he draws doesn’t look a lot like most Jerusalem crosses.) It seems like a personal thing. I’ll find the interview
