Happy publication day to @david-foster.bsky.social! Very proud.
And his co-editor, Prof Mitchell and all of the wonderful contributors.
Do not judge by the whimsical cover - this is a serious piece of work!
Effortlessly cool. RIP.
Soup season off to a racing start in the Foster Skillen household with this little number:

Silky, and packs a little punch with the spices. I recommend!
Though I am very envious of anyone who has access to Trader Joe’s
BIG day for millennial women, HUGE
Glorious
In Martha’s Vineyard. It is unbelievably picturesque. But I can’t fully immerse and enjoy it because this town has NO TRAFFIC LIGHTS. And I am *too* fascinated by this.
UCL are going back to all in person exams. There is no other solution to this problem currently available.
Finally found a transfer window that holds my attention!
Deee-licious
I fear that may be the case…
Ha!

2024 is apparently dead to me
Been a subscriber since I was 16/17 but I might have to let it go this year.
More importantly, I hope the eye is being seen to and all is okay
If you fancy a laugh, this afternoon we paid £33 for two mulled wines in a hotel in Marylebone. Didn’t check the price first because it hadn’t even entered my thoughts that a glass could be anywhere north of £7-8. And it was awful! Undrinkable! Sweetest thing ever to have been made by man’s hand.
Ah, lovely - Christmas has begun!
@nigella.bsky.social good morning - I was wondering whether your website have the annual Christmas pudding hunt this year? Have to confess, it’s become a tradition with me!
Looking forward to reading this!
This is awful! You must have been very shocked. I hope she is okay.
We used to live in South Ealing! It was nice! I still miss Gunnersbury Park for a run
PSA if you haven’t yet watched Colin from Accounts (iPlayer), you must. The writing and acting are sublime. It will, however, make you want a Border Terrier.
Emergency!!!
Feels like 2016 — except now I’m in my 30s so the generalised sense of doom is accompanied by random hip pains and not sleeping well if I have more than two glasses of wine
Do you think you could have done this as an early career scholar? Or is it now at your fingertips having taken copious notes for years, and you’re reaping the rewards?
Nice day for a run back home in NI
Yes, that’s nicely observed! Especially for the audience of a general magazine. Even where I might have disagreed with some of his UKSC judgments, generally couldn’t fault his clarity and style
This is a very good analysis generally, but its particular charm (for me anyway) is that Lord Sumption attacks the judgment on its own terms: trashing the majority's reading of legal history, principle and precedent.

Thanks for sharing — really enjoyed that piece. A tour de force!
