The US Ambassador on RTE News just now — utterly delusional.

Hardly surprising though. Whatever we think, he’ll get back in.
He’s not worried about today - he’s still a TD. he’s worried about the next election and what his constituents will think of him.
At the end of the day he very clearly couldn’t be the representative he claims to be and not listen to his constituents. Danny’s early indications of a no vote should have been clear enough to see that, regardless of any peace keeping nonsense he put out in the press yesterday.
Cool cool.
Great piece of analysis. People are going through enough without adding the protests on top of it but sectors are suffering & the government have managed nothing. Even if an election was held tomorrow we have no viable alternatives. That's how the far right gets a hold #speirgorm
Eternally dismayed at people who share their opinion on the protests and support continued blockades, and say they’re doing it for all of us. Who then say they don’t believe it matters who is in government, and say “oh I’m not political” and refuse to engage in what the future should be. Powerful.
Lads generations have repeatedly voted these fucks into power. Let’s not forget this.
Mine is more how I (34) work, my partner (35) works, we both manage our money, we both do our best day in and day out, and yet the odds of owning a home and the affordability to start a family (should we wish to) appears out of reach. Billionaires get richer & the lower middle get shafted further.
Heaven forbid if all those who voted for FF/FG year on year thought about energy security, public transport and greater infrastructure when they chose to back these clowns and their fiscal policies election after election after election.
The point is made and the threat of further (should be recognised and accepted) by government. Significant measures need to be taken but there has to be an acceptance that it'll only go so far...
3. The fact that with all of this going on, people are still thinking there'll be a magic wand fix, is delusional. You can't hang that idea as your base from blocking people getting fuel to go to their jobs, see their loved ones, get to hospital appointments & simply try to get the fuck on.
2. Measures have to be taken to ease the pressures, but until the orange overlord across the pond croaks it and his hate filled compadres pop their clogs or run out of time in power, we're going to have repeated shit shows around energy and fuel and safety. It's complete bollocks.
I hate this us versus them shit that everything inevitably boils down to now. Everyone who isn't filthy rich is fucking struggling to get by with the cost of living.
1. Fine Gael were known as the farmer's party, and generations have voted these 2 parties into government. Let's not forget that.
I do wonder if we’re all just part of a rolling miserable satire for billionaires…
Opportunist scum activity in full effect to be fair on that front. Scumbag behaviour.
I draw the line really at actions which stop people from being able to get to loved ones in hospitals or stop sick people from having access to treatments due to firstly the blockades and now due to lack of fuel.
I support challenging for greater supports, but I’m cognisant that FF/FG are historically the parties of choice for farmers and a great many generations repeatedly voted for that parties and their fiscal policies that left the country so vulnerable to this shite.
Fianna Fáil TD (and former junior minister at the Dept of Finance) Sean Fleming calling for price caps on motor fuels.
As pointed out here, this can’t be achieved through tax - a price cap would mean artificially limiting the non-tax bit that forecourts can charge, forcing them to trade at a loss.
If #climate protesters had ever caused even a fraction of the disruption now being experienced across Ireland, there would likely be calls by now from rural TDs for the return of the death penalty.
Just worth saying, for absolutely legal clarity: the government does not have the legal prerogative to abolish carbon tax in its entirety. Carbon tax is a form of excise, and EU directives require excise on diesel to be a minimum of 33c per litre. (1/2)
In short, this national campaign is essentially a Dublin campaign with a few lucky extras around the country. What’s the point of even offering it to anywhere but Dublin.
There’s a Communications Officer job in the civil service open at the moment. National panel, open to everywhere.
First point on the “Questions answered” section, and the last.
100% - did you expect anything else?
Jobs, jobs, jobs.

Sure seems like he’d benefit from introspection to realise what a moronic comment he made.
Morning survey of the land from this ole puds.
ye olde social contract really is gone, isn't it?
Zero shock here.
