NEW: A searing editorial in the The Kyiv Independent.
“It’s time to say it plainly. America’s leadership has switched sides in the war. The American people have not, and they should speak up.
“A president just disrespected America in the Oval Office. It wasn’t Zelensky.”

Imagine getting on a train in the UK where instead of a 5 minute recitation of all the ways in which you could be prosecuted or fined, they've instead made it as easy as possible to buy the right ticket, find the correct seat, stow your luggage and have a relaxing journey.
Sending love to those of you
Who are alone this Christmas
Who are working throughout
Who are grieving the loss of a loved one
Who are battling with mental health
Who are fighting a physical illness
Who are having financial difficulties
Who are having family troubles
We see you.
Today's GDP figures should be a warning to Keir Starmer's Government that its doom and gloom, austerity to come, messaging is not just bad politics, but bad economics too
A credit union should look like its members. That's why we're asking them to help us represent the real London and to help kick our stock photo habit for good... https://lmcu.uk/3CFyROQ

I love this framing - a politics of care. Doing stuff to the absolute best of our abilities for no other reason than because we care - about being true to ourselves, about each other, about our communities, country and world, and about our future...Because we care about the truth we create together.
I’m looking forward to the long read on the impact of John Prescott on policy and delivery as a minister - on local government, the regions, regeneration, housing and the environment. I hope someone is writing it. He wasn’t just a backstory, a deputy and a punch.
Putin's Russia isn't an ideological state. It has no need of "doctrine." It's a mafia state run by thugs. "Doctrine" is whatever Putin wants to do at any given moment. So don't fall for some "new doctrine" as if it's a trigger or red line that Putin will have to observe. /5
At the risk of reading too much into Bluesky’s success at the moment, I do think it’s a signal that people don’t want to be surrounded by bots and manipulated algorithms
AI can only go so far. We want human connection.
None of those toddlers plugged into an iPad today are as hooked as 1992 me was to Teddy Bears picnic on the BBC Micro
I’ve just added this cosy and aromatic Massaman Beef Curry to nigella.com, so of course it’s #RecipeOfTheDay! I cook this without the potatoes, then give it a day or two in the fridge before adding the potatoes and continuing, but you can cook it all the way through www.nigella.com/recipes/mass...
Few things to say about this characterisation of the move to Bluesky in @thetimes.com
I don’t doubt for a second that it’s why some people have come. But it has v little to do with my motivations.
I at least try to be rigorously impartial. I’m not here because I don’t like certain political views.
Really encouraging to see.
Some really exciting stuff in #mansionhouse speech - including long-overdue potential reform of the credit union common bond. Credit unions should be able to serve easily-understood communities, and not have to turn away people in need based on criteria that can often feel arcane and arbitrary.

Financial Times tweets: "The Re-election of Donald Trump is a decisive rejection of liberalism, writes Francis Fukuyama (author of "The End of History and the Last Man")"
