I should go-fund-me this damn burner.
Ordered a new pilot assembly for my burner. The old one is *probably* fixable, if I had a bench vise & a long enough wrench- which I don't. I could maybe find one, but every day I can't fire is costing me $$, and I've put weeks into this already.
But Armageddon didn't come on Tuesday! Perspective.
...that people only wanted those posts if they were free. Can't say I blame them, it's awesome when people offer useful, valuable things for free! But kinda sucks on my end.
When I regularly wrote a pottery blog (it's still there, I just post more on Patreon now), people regularly clamored for more of the tutorial posts - those were fun for me also but labor intensive. Then I got the idea to get paid for them - hence the patreon - and discovered...
Meanwhile I mentally apologize for asking $48 for a mug. Who do I think I am?
A lesson I cannot seem to learn, or at least can't seem to put to use: the price of handmade things is almost entirely dependent on context & confidence.
One of my new-ish students is selling vases for high 3-figures. Nice pieces but beginnerish. But he dared to ask, & got it.
In other news, NO, my g.d. fckin burner parts from the burner supply house in Tennessee did not arrive. I ordered another one from Amazon - I'm not a fan of Amazon but they do get you your stuff fast, & this is sort of an emergency.
So I guess I'll just have a spare $80 thermocouple lying around.
Lately I've been obsessed with these wonky little slab built pots, made with a spring wire for texture. New post for patrons! www.patreon.com/posts/potter...
I remember when I was so excited to be accepted on Faire.com
That was very funny, in retrospect
To be fair it could still be the thermocouple, but it takes a specialized one that I had to order from Tennessee, so I can't work on that. The Baso is what I *can* do today, so I am doing it.
& then going to the protest. See you out there!
There are only four possibilities: the flow regulator valves (too simple to be real candidates); the solenoid (rules out because I can hear it working); the thermocouple; or the Baso safety valve (expensive pain in the ass to replace.)
Guess what I am replacing today?
Some potters are into equipment; I am not. Nevertheless, equipment is what I do lately. Another day trying to solve my burner problem.
Heard a rumor that NCECA is in Baltimore next year!! I hope it is true because if so I can get there.

Throwback, uh, Friday! Spent the last few days helping my mom move and found this photo from maybe 2002
Too wet to trim? No problem!
