I commissioned this piece by @sandyernestallen.bsky.social for personal reasons. As some of you may know, before I transitioned I had extensive contact with the psychiatric system.
These experiences, which started when I was a child, were profounding negative and traumatizing.

Four ovoid robots with banded arms and legs, spelling out the letters YMCA with their arms. They're dressed as some of the Village People, left-to-right: the cowboy with hat and neckerchief; leather-daddy/biker with peaked cap, chest harness and handlebar moustache; motorcycle cop with crash helmet, and construction worker with hard hat and aviator shades. They're all smiling, because wouldn't you be?
498) Villagebots. Inform young men that there's a place they can go when they're in a new town. Somewhere that has everything for them to enjoy and where they can hang out with all the boys. #SmallRobotsRemastered
Fascinating research on how Stentor coeruleus, a single-celled pond critter, manages to not only learn & forget, but pass along learned conditions to progeny after cell division.
Memory without brains!
Also, they look like a bag of Bugle chips gained sentience, so there's that.
A black and white photo of him in his graduation uniform.
Two panels from Pogo showing Pogo and Deacon Mushrat. Mushrat is lecturing pogo and dialogue is an example of Shikuma's wonderful lettering.
Characters from Pogo are signing a Carol and the words are shown as part of sheet music at the top of the panel.
Today is the birthday of artist & letterer Henry Shikuma (April 23, 1922-Nov. 25, 1985). A veteran of WWII, he became an assistant to Walt Kelly on the Pogo comic strip in 1958 and soon took over lettering, beautifully inking over Kelly's blue-pencilled layouts.
Six-year-old Mary Walker, who flies into inexplicable rages when everything in her immediate environment goes bleepy bloopy bleep blorp, has reportedly been called “a spoiled brat” by helpful well-wishers.

I firmly believe presidents & people with control over medical agencies should understand percentages!
If *you* don’t, no judgment; I will explain in the next couple posts how they work. The short version is that Senator Warren is correct in the clip, and there’s NO interpretation in which RFKJr is
Yeah, sure, "dawn of the dinosaurs," but crocs were evolving in some surprising ways in the Triassic. An unexpected skull from New Mexico reveals one new form that was hiding in plain sight.

An update to a now-classic meme from the early days of Bluesky's admitting new accounts without needing an invite code. The scene is a roller coaster car full of people (denoted by text "Bluesky's thin-skinned AI-simping admin team"), utterly-horrified at the sight of what's to their right as they pass by--a gaggle of furry icons (denoted by the text "Invite-only Bluesky users")
A little edit to this classic had to be done for the occasion
i do feel like we're headed for a realm of bigger counterculture driven by internet weirdo furries and queer/trans people that many of the establishment, even the more normie left-wing flanks, won't know what to do with. if you're uncomfortable with that stuff, now's the time to work through that.
we've seen the first flickers of backlash over the last ~5 years, with big name (self-described) leftist influencers reacting with grudging bemusement to news like a furry researcher becoming the frontline pandemic science communicator while working on a shelf-stable version of the vaccine

The YES has won in Virginia; voters approved the constitutional amendment to adopt Dems' congressional gerrymander.
This is likely to deliver a 10-1 (Dem) congressional delegation in November, compared to 6-5 (Dem) now.
The remaining obstacle: State supreme court will be weighing in still.
