A very dapper doggo indeed.

That’s exactly the thing, though! The Good Place knew what they were doing with casting him. You’re inclined to like him and have that sort of fond nostalgia. And then the S1 finale hits you…
A dog stands on a table, posing next a basted peak lapel sport coat. The jacket is being displayed on a dress form.
A dog sitting on the floor, posting next to a basted blue tweed sport coat with notch lapels. The jacket is being displayed on a dress form.

A dog poses on a table. He's surrounded by a tailor's measuring tape.
Every time this tailor posts a photo of their workspace, it looks like their dog is a tailor and he's showing off the garments he made.

You ever try to code switch at work and fail? 😂
(For instance, if someone tries to tell you that a word came out of a cutesy acronym…be wary. Most don’t. And then the ones that do, like “laser,” people don’t even spell right half the time, go figure…)
There’s a ton of good resources online for etymologies, by the way, and it’s always worth checking those. Like, going straight to a good dictionary is always a good bet. People tend to circulate a lot of stories that sound good but are totally wrong, though, so check your sources.
fuck sam altman forever for taking away the last places where we could engage in good faith: the creative arts, which should be a testament to human ingenuity. i am so mad that everything i read or listen to or admire is now tainted with doubt. do you understand? he is a thief of joy and i HATE HIM
Phoeo of a cute cat behind a super market toy set looking at the camera, with the silly caption of "Khajiit has wares if you have coin" which is a known The Elder Scrolls line.

Eh, just talk to Genshin Impact players. You will, I promise, get some OPINIONS. :)

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, yeah.
(Personally, I'm steering about a mile wide of Paramount at this point.)
(I always have to laugh, in a gallows-humor sort of way, when people rant on Reddit about boycotting Amazon...when Reddit is hosted by Amazon.)
That one was specific and direct enough to make a dent. Focus helps. Compare to people who are mad at, say, Amazon, so they don't buy a toaster there or whatever, but when the company's making piles of money on other services, they're not gonna notice.
Yeah, the logic of "I didn't spend money on a thing, which means I'm morally superior for my choices, and also coincidentally means I got to save money, which is good for me, so now I'm personally very very satisfied and my job is done" gets exhausting. Because guess what it's really about!

Yeah, I have! That site's on my list.
I’ve had the same editor since 1967. Many times he has said to me over the years or asked me, Why would you use a semicolon instead of a colon? And many times over the years I have said to him things like: I will never speak to you again. Forever. Goodbye. That is it. Thank you very much. And I leave. Then I read the piece and I think of his suggestions. I send him a telegram that says, OK, so you’re right. So what? Don’t ever mention this to me again. If you do, I will never speak to you again
Maya Angelou on the joys of being edited
Years ago @mikeduncan.bsky.social told me "you can rewrite shit but you can't rewrite nothing" and it's made every draft easier since.
Good advice, considering what I posted a few minutes ago... bsky.app/profile/jgri...
A two-page spread from Muppet Magazine's Spring 1984 issue, entitled "Great Moments (and neat stuff) in Computer History." A short bio of Ada Lovelace is its first entry.
Meanwhile, the first place I learned about Ada Lovelace being the first computer programmer was...Muppet Magazine.
I don't know about you, but I trust Scooter's expertise on this. *nods firmly*
Funnily enough, of all the baby-name websites I've been raiding for ideas (and let me shout into the depths of the internet here: not pregnant! just a writer!), one of the nicer ones is run by Pampers.
I mean. I guess that tracks.
Currently in that phase of planning out a new piece of fiction where I spend about three straight days agonizing over...character names.
(I have really got to stop coming up with big ensemble casts. SO. MANY. NAMES. *weeps quietly*)
haha! Maybe in some alternate universe. In this one, just a lucky fan. But it was a fun, fun day.
Now I want a red fedora emoji.
(Hey, Unicode, if you're listening...!)
love how the announcer is already making comment about it being a busy inning before they get three more goddamn runs
Meanwhile, in other flashbacks to PBS shows of the '90s...
Also, side note, this is why I know exactly how to tell people how to get to Sesame Street, because they filmed right down the hall. Now if only I could go back someday and visit them, too...!
