I’d love to say I’m enjoying this but it’s the same as ever: we’ve wasted more than a decade on this extended, completely necessary tantrum and nobody will admit they were wrong about any of it. It’s just stupid and aggravating and, because this is Britain, it’s apparently unavoidable and permanent.

I mean, we really are screwed, aren’t we?
‘I will do such things,/ What they are, yet I know not: but they shall be/ The terrors of the earth…’. Or a further extended ceasefire. www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cx...

OMFG I had to go and check that this ACTUALLY happened.
Since when does the BBC ever do chyrons with a political party's branding, rather than their own? Not to mention this is during a pre-election campaign purdah.

I’m wondering about Santa Claus now.
I don’t enjoy it as much as Twitter in its heyday. But I like it more than the alternatives.
Wait. What?
The JC has published an op ed by Nigel Farage rallying against Jew-hatred.
This is a man who sang antisemitic songs, and supposedly said “Hitler was right”, “Gas them” during school days

See also Wingfield’s Frost novels. Though those are still in print.
I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.
I mean we joke about this, but everybody knew very well that Peter was an absurdly crooked and self-interested fraudster in *1998*, so you have to ask what kind of system would still be not only welcoming but slavishly deferential to an obvious criminal in 2024.
It's amazing that RFK is not the most insane person in the US cabinet. Perhaps not even top three.

Absolutely. He has no base other then a few people who are desperate to defend him in the face of all the evidence for various reasons (the most honourable of which is that they don’t want a Labour govt to fail).
Wow.
A huge part of my life in the 1980/90s. A flawed human being but a great and hugely influential broadcaster.
If you’re a Hachette author you should be talking to your editors and teams about this. If they’re using AI to counter AI, it’s still AI. And it may also be giving your work to the machine, serving it up on a contractual platter.
Scansion’s not a strong point. But it never is.
The American gestapo abducted an 85 year-old widow.
Was she one of the worst of the worst? No, her step-son, a retired Alabama state trooper, got ICE to put her in a detention center to deport her because he wanted all of his father's inheritance.
Sounds like the son is the worst of the worst.
What kind of parties does he intend to host there???!!!!

HOW ALLISON PEARSON AND ROBERT JENRICK ARE EXPLOITING THE HORROR OF THE SOUTHPORT ATTACK
In the Daily Telegraph, the columnist and the politician are using horrific crimes as an excuse for poisonous rhetoric.

Disgusting reporting by BBC using a tiny number of cases to suggest widespread abuse of a system which routinely denies LGBTQIA+ individuals asylum and forces them back into environments of persecution. This article massively distorts the reality of the situation. 1/

Quite something to think we are staring down the barrel of a crisis which will end high level research and teaching as something spread evenly across the country's cities and towns, accessible to all, and both UK and devolved governments just don't seem to particularly care?
Unbelievable. Thanks to Brian’s diligence we are getting Hegseth’s violent sermonizing in real time.
But, you know, let’s campaign about allowing oil and gas drilling licences in the North Sea. www.theguardian.com/environment/...
It take weapons grade arrogance to invent popesplaining.
Credit where it's due, "If you're going to opine on matters of theology" is an extremely funny thing to say to the Actual Pope.
Govt's proposal to reform settlement policy (incl requiring care workers to wait 15yrs before they can settle) will not save £10bn, as they previously suggested
@jdportes.bsky.social new analysis of govt's own (prev unreleased) data suggests actual saving would be £600m - a substantial difference 👇
