Scrubby little patch of wild garlic, long pointy leaves, white flowers looking a bit like tired pom poms. Concrete in the background, patchy grass in the foreground.

Currently trying to work out how to encourage our wild garlic to spread

Thinking how much fun a map of stress dream locations could be. Mine is side streets in a seaside town with a horrible ferry port.

That said, I am eating overpriced carrot cake with a cup of tea while listening to a nightingale so valid

2 brownies, 1 carrot cake, 1 pasty and 4 drinks. £30. Jesus I don’t think we need to worry about birds being protected #rspb #remorse

I love how the Aldi in Guildford has a green man sculpture outside. I hope it’s to appease old gods.

From Kalniņš to Bergs (and Back): Latvian Surnames Over Time Surnames are something that all of us in Europe have (now), but there's a huge amount of variation both in the date of adoption and the forms they take across the continent. Surnames in the sense they...

Demographer Ilmārs Mežs explains why Latvians have historically been keen to adopt German surnames (or, in some regions, Polish ones), as well as why they have generally been less prone than their Estonian neighbours to revert back to "native" forms

The irony being, with some good admin, the Brits should be amazing at EES. God tier. Queuing? Queuing FAR too early? Sign ‘em up.

Pisa airport EES exit successfully navigated (thanks to the gate being announced three hours early). Only one uk passport in the mix but seeing as they’re the one with the car keys…

A morning florentine sky. View from the terrace of the Uffizi. Restaurant umbrellas still closed as it’s not open yet. Blue sky peeping with light clouds. Lots of swifts. 80?

Can confirm the swifts have arrived in Florence.

We all got given Happy Eater badges one year on our school carnival float (which went very well with our Victorian ladies and gentleman theme) and yes I was the doofus who couldn’t work out why we had been given Easter badges in summer

De rigeur pilgrimage for stranglers fans - a landed Viking ship on a bed of pebbles. Yellow dragon head. Shields and oars. So glad Hugin’s Viking boat cover was off. Good looking grey but illuminated sky in the background. Sea out of sight

Grubby cliffs, murky sea, overgrown carparks and columns. Grey clouds with some patchy blue sky. Scrubby trees.

Carparks given over to plants. Chilly windy skies.

Absolutely love the lonely dereliction of the Ramsgate hover port

Previous photo. Front view of the Hugin Viking ship near Ramsgate. Basically in silhouette with a hazy sun in the top left, lots of wispy clouds. Lots of oars. It’s a Viking ship. You can’t really see the head of the boat.

Kiddo’s birthday request is that we drive to Cliffsend to see the replica Viking ship that was presented to the people of Thanet by the King of Denmark in 1949.

We will be listening to The Raven on the journey. I am not mad at any of this plan.
