“Die verwachtingen [veronderstelde voordelen van AI in onderwijs] zijn volgens hen echter grotendeels gebaseerd op aannames, niet op stevig empirisch bewijs.”

“check out this great interview w/a.o. @olivia.science & @irisvanrooij.bsky.social (…) The whole piece is strong, but the beginning is truly fantastic, when Guest explains how the Q of whether something might work is completely irrelevant ("possibilities don't bake bread”).” — @felienne.bsky.social
The debate about power structures in technology is not new.
"Technology is not like the moon and the stars."
Also in 1981: deskilling, luddites, technology, productivity.

"And then you might say: you have to use it better, you have to check it, but that really ignores the fact that checking is difficult, exhausting, and boring. And it ignores the fact that warnings don't help."

> anthropic [is running] an ENTIRE AD CAMPAIGN around "Claude code is written with claude code" and after the source was leaked that has got to be the funniest self-own in the history of advertising because OH BOY IT SHOWS.

I’m laughing and seething at the same time. This shit is what my boss thinks they can replace me with? What if *I* built a product as crap as this, wasting billions on the way? They’d fire me and sue me, for starters!
They: “But we use AI responsibly!”
Us: “Do you mean, smoke with a filter?”

Bibie is een database. En we noemen haar AI! 🥰
I will add your website later! ❤️
💬 Wat maakt een chatbot chatty en hoe meet je dat? Vraag het een taalwetenschapper en je krijgt antwoord.

• Ban AI use in the classroom for student assignments, in the same way we ban essay mills and other forms of plagiarism. Students must be protected from de-skilling and allowed space and time to perform their assignments themselves.
They: “We cannot ban AI from the classroom!”
Us: “Would you allow students to smoke in class?”

Btw. In groep 8 maken ze nog betere categorieën. Dit is van het niveau: winterkleding, blauwe sokken en wintersokken, sport en spel, fietsbroeken, uit de mode, wollen dingen, feestkleding. Bijna niks is wederzijds uitsluitend.
Iemand schreef: het rapport laat zien wat onwetende mensen denken wat andermans werk is. Overigens zit defensie er niet eens tussen. Toch wel dé plek waar AI afzetmarkt heeft.
> Just curious if more people have the same experience. Maybe there is research on it?
New trend: chatbot loving people treat you like their chatbot. Questions become prompts. The reading did not happen. E-mails without introductions or even formal greetings. And: lots of tone police when clear answers were given. Used to sycophancy and instant feedback?

Work is a social relationship. We create things together. This is especially true of UX design.
AI's value proposition is freedom from relationships.
So when designers champion AI tools, we are not making ourselves layoff-proof. We are reinforcing a system that frames us as unnecessary friction.

I call it the Peter Prompter Principle. Do stupid things and still think you look smart.
Think about how many guys like this are getting away with it every single day

This is why AI is so appealing & convincing to certain groups, if you're brought up on the idea — implicit or not — that stealing ideas is OK... well, AI just automates that theft for you
from that naturally flows olivia.science/cryptogyny & racist versions of hiding who really did the work
"I want to remind you that the future is yours, and it is not known — not by you, not by Georgetown, not by Sam Altman or Elon Musk, not by the chatbot, not by me. And that is a beautiful thing."
