Stores have been accusing customers of theft at self-checkout for years now. Many are wrongly accused. They even wait till they can claim you've stolen a felony amount before having the cops come for you. Don't use self checkout. It's a scam all the way around.
I stopped using self checkout yesrs ago when I learned just how often stores were having people arrested for shoplifting simply for using the self checkout.
