Here's my plea to the government, media and everyone else to stop treating NHS administrators as a problem to be eliminated, rather than the glue which holds the whole organisation together.
Yay. Priceless. The right column at the right time. And a gleefully English two fingers to the haters.
I mean from 15 to 59. It was their event 16
What a super event at Heritage Coastal Path Easington parkrun this morning. Great team, excellent views, the occasional incline on the single lap, and a lovely cafe for after. And along the way I increased my Wilson index from 16 to 59. #loveparkrun #parkrungeek
Your periodic reminder that mRNA vaccines are a scientific and public health game-changer. Those that have been approved have passed stringent efficacy and safety checks. They protect you and your child against potentially fatal diseases. You may, however, get a sore arm.
An increasingly harsh international environment will bring the UK and EU back together, Publico says:
“Today, all illusions on both sides of the Channel have been shattered.
UK needs the EU and the EU needs UK.
The 'Briturn' movement has already been launched. That is a good sign.”

parkrun participants gather on the uneven ice at Soldiers Field Roundhay
Huge thank-you to the volunteers who made Roundhay #parkrun happen this morning. The winter course is always a struggle and today more than ever!
You've probaly seen various headlines this year about bird flu and the potential for a new pandemic.
So I've written a new substack as a simple explainer on what a flu pandemic actually is, why bird flu and what's been going on over the last 3 years.

It all happened before the storm got properly started at Northallerton #parkrun this morning. Huge thank you to the volunteers on a morning when running was easier than standing.
One #parkrun closer the next century and my quickest time at Northallerton for over a year. #StillRunningJustAbout
Great to see so much #parkrun hashed on Bluesky today.
Today was my 397th parkrun and 48th time around the Potternewton slopes of enlightenment.
Despite appearances here I really did enjoy running Potternewton #parkrun with Sam Dooley this morning. 6 years ago I watched the first Potty parkun having fractured my neck of femur just 3 weeks before.
This weekend we celebrate the 6th anniversary of the first event at Potternewton #parkrun. So I'll be running those slopes of enlightenment tomorrow morning at our small but perfectly formed parkrun.
