As long as it executes all the macros as root, you should be good

Back in the 1990s, my dad installed a satellite dish in the back yard so he could get the back haul feeds for things and sporting events were one of the best uses.

Back when everything was analog, nothing was encrypted so you could just spectrum-analyze yourself up some channels from the sky.

As a New Hampshire guy, I can say we got a lot of really good maples here. Same with Vermont.

But also same with Canada

Watch out for Maple Syrup grades. In the olden days grades weren’t quality but “darkness”. Grade A just tasted like sugar juice and grade B and C tasted progressively more mapley.

Now they have named them all grade A but there are “darkness” options.

Another rousing blue shells and bullet bills race with the kids.

Mayhem!

I bought into Cal Newport’s idea that you only get like 2-3 good deep thinking and focusing things per day.

During the week, business work gets 2 of them. During the weekends, family gets all 3.

When I’m not “working”, I’m happy to still do low-load unblocking or organizing.

I love the use of Breaking.

“Breaking news! Nothing is different from how it just was. And looks to be staying that way”

You want that change merged? Go rub Goldberg.

I’ve been using resend for email sending for apps I write and they keep emailing me asking what features I want to add.

It does: you can see all the messages. You know everything about them.

There is nothing else I could possibly ask for. Don’t raise funding, guy! Leave it alone!!!!

If you knit words into scarves, that’s 3 birds with one activity. Probably not save to do while biking. Maybe as the second person on a tandem.

Mind wandering and deliberate focus are both neat skills that need to be developed.

Not sure why Phineas and Ferb was made to be very high quality. I’m so glad my kids found it. It’s had me in tears several times over the past month.

Seems to me like if a president is creating rogue state and war crime vibes, if the congress and courts responsible for balancing the power aren’t doing so, they are complicit.

If the attempt to rein him in fails, okay. Supporters of that attempt may hold up better at The Hague.

Hence we shall never be “rich”.

When “the powers that be” decided to systematically gut the US workforce by offshoring, you couldn’t reskill your way out of that. The only way to keep your job was by moving to a different country and take a huge pay cut. Not that it was even really possible.

These “powers” are looking at LLMs now

Your job depends on your learning enough of its shortcomings to be able to defend not replacing you.

Or more likely know where it will fall over so you can tune your resume and cover letters once your team is eliminated and some other company is in the re-hiring process

It’s interesting because they spent a bunch of effort claiming they made Claude code minimal so the model does all the work but this is a massive LLM harness.

All the big whales were Iranian and their private keys were blown up? Maybe? Can’t sell if you’re smithereens.

I was recently in the position to replace the shared kid phone which was an XS that I got new back when it launched. The options were a new 17 or a 14 pro for almost the same price. I went with the 14 pro for all of the same reasons.

Battery was shot.

It definitely cost more after repairs.

I need them to make the envoy spans in OpenTelemetry traces adjacent to the child services. Today it causes parent-child relationship issues because it’s inline.

AI is distracting people from service mesh traceability!

I think the point with some of these is like “I pay $50 per week for gas since the price went way up, the car payment is trivial.”

But I agree, ownership should be the goal, not a 7+ year loan on a depreciating asset.

I always assume 90% of these are just poorly thought out CI pipelines.

I guess that’s a good point. The book puts usable-for-lengthy-periods VR at the same timeframe as the US is devolved into independent gated communities. We aren’t quite there yet, but the trajectory seems right.

He calls people wearing tech on their heads in public “gargoyles” in Snow Crash and the in-universe people dislike/distrust them.

His social takes were close. It is the indoor use that doesn’t match.

Move your personal stuff to a MacBook Air or whatever.

Any time a system has developer tools on it, it’s basically compromised.

It seems to be for people who don’t care.

I have had jobs in the past where I didn’t care. I might have done it then.
