The sad reality (that the MAGA movement wants you to forget) is that if only one party gerrymanders, then that party can gain a permanent (minority) government. Thus, until EVERY state agrees to cease gerrymandering, no state can safely unilaterally disarm.
We need a Constitutional Amendment.
Two things can be true:
Congress should pass uniform, national legislation reining in partisan gerrymandering; and
Until that happens, or every state adopts an independent redistricting commission, neither party is going to (or, frankly, should) unilaterally disarm.
Let's call this policy what this is.
It's socialism. It's Leftism. And it's curing actual ills. Righting institutional wrongs.
It's not coming from someone who is infallible, or someone who is always correct.
It's coming from someone who promised to help and is trying to keep those promises.
