Some days you just want to unplug and enjoy a ☕️& 🥯 while reading articles, and taking the time to reflect & think without the noise of emails, meetings etc.
Actually finding the time to do that is another matter…

Happy National Library Week! 💙📚
💯 agree!
Agree, but you also shouldn’t be submitting to these journals & expect others to do the free labour you refuse to do yourself.
Not that I know of, but they do give recognitions & discounts.
But my point is if you submit to a journal & expect others’ free labour while not agreeing to review for this same journal, that’s not very fair & don’t be surprised with delays in review…
If you submit papers please also review papers.
If you feel you should be paid to review. I understand that. Then only submit to journals who pay reviewers.

In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.
Love the long line-ups for the newest *it* ice creams on the first warm spring day 😊

Women get migraines three times more than men and studies show that for women aged 18 to 49, migraines are the leading cause of disability around the world.
Women are three times more likely than men to get migraines, the leading cause of disability for ages 18–49. On a recent (MIS)Treated, @namshine.bsky.social spoke with @mnrajah.bsky.social about women’s brain health and the impact of hormones: podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/w...
So the take home message is: education, social engagement, cognitive activity & having a positive self concept about one’s memory ability is beneficial to both women & men! And being biologically female while attending to these gender dimensions has a positive outcome on female brain aging! End/
We found that female > male sex was associated with being in high-stable group & these gender- related variables were independently associated with being in the high group for both sexes: higher EDU, social/household mngment, cogv activity & 🧠 games, & better subjective memory. 4/
And what factors were predictive of high-stable(high memory maintenance with age), moderate(typical age-related decline), and low/declining (decline that may be indicative of poor agony outcomes) aging trajectories in a sample of 746 adults (248 males, 498, females) aged 53-95 yrs old. 3/
I had a great time collaborating with you on this important research article in which we applied cutting edge AI & statistical methods to explore how sex and gender separately/interactively contributed to longitudinal memory decline with aging 2/

The Lambie toy lasted 5min with Harry 😂
Turned on NBC. They talked about “President tipping a DoorDash driver $100”.
This woman participated in GOP ads before playing other roles. There is no DoorDash deliveries to the Oval Office. Please exercise proper judgement when consuming news.
Really feeling the “Your procrastination is not my problem” vibes during the end of term hustle!! #AcademicChatter
This is our latest work, validating initial observations we made with multiscale entropy and EEG and extending them with a larger sample size to show sex-dependent differences across age. Thanks to @camcan-2010.bsky.social for access to the data. cc @rhens.bsky.social

Oh! Sorry to hear about your experience.
Yes, sometimes journal editorial teams definitely make mistakes and fail to uninvite folks who initially accepted but then email to decline due to emergencies or change in availability. Sorry for your experience!
Also as an aside, if your willing to go through journal hoops to submit a paper, it’s good karma to also be willing to go through similar hoops to review.
I think current trends to be okay with submitting papers but not okay with reviewing papers is killing peer review.
I agree. But this is more targeted to reviewers who already accepted to review a paper, who then ghost you …
Dear reviewer, We all hate those pesky reminder emails to submit overdue reviews that are automatically sent by the journal’s system software. BUT if you’re several weeks late, maybe respond or decline reviewing so authors & EiCs aren’t stuck in limbo? #bekind #AcademicChatter
