Censoring blood doesn't seem to have ever been about the context in which any injury or even violence is portrayed - TV ads for literal period products have always used blue liquid to demonstrate how absorbent their product is, as if their target customers would be scared by red blood-like visuals?

agreed, but it's even worse given that surely everyone has tripped as a child, or caught their hand on the edge of something, or even just got a papercut at least - all of which bleed, so it's not even like small children don't know what blood is?!

... That's not inherently a problem because of whatever the character they're "playing" is like in the source material, it's a problem of context and idk, maybe people shouldn't go to events where people are cosplaying if people playing characters makes them uncomfortable IMO
