It was an absolute pleasure
Recently The Notted Island creator Katherine Child led a set of workshops at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History exploring the theme of colour and communication in the natural world. Thank you so much to everybody who joined in, and especially @morethanadodo.bsky.social for hosting us!
#NewIllustrationOfTheDay by Luke Pearson from Hilda and Twig Wake the Ice Man. The latest in a graphic novel series that became a Netflix franchise. (Twig is a ‘deerfox’.) Classic cartoon strip with a hint, I think, of Mafalda. Flying Eye 6 Nov. @flyingeyebooks.bsky.social @lukepearson.bsky.social
Author-illustrator Joe Todd-Stanton’s "stunning" picture book The Lost Robot has found a home with Flying Eye Books. The title has already been sold into 14 languages and will publish on 5th March 2026 👇 #BookSky
🍃🍂 Colour has returned! 🍃🍂
The Notted Island by Katherine Child is out now!
📖 Before 1861, the world was black and white. As Colour reached the end of his job, world weary he stopped to rest on Last Island: the last uncoloured place.

Us here @flyingeyebooks.bsky.social! We've been publshing children's graphic novels and comics since the list was set up in 2013!
On #InternationalWomensDay we are celebrating our female protagonists: Girls who can be brave, fierce, gentle, bold, playful, resourceful, curious.
With every book we publish, we hope to inspire young readers, and show them the endless options for what a girl (or woman) can be.

Book cover of Hilda and Twig: Hide from the Rain.
Luke Pearson’s latest Hilda and Twig book is a wee gem. Twig gets centre stage, which is always a delight, and as an early reader it’s a great route into the wider Hilda comics for young readers. Any excuse to hang out in Hilda’s world. 😍 #KidsGN📚💬 #UKKidLit
Today's review...'Wildlife in the Balance' Dr Sharon Wismer, illustrated by Terri Po @flyingeyebooks.bsky.social ooks A fascinating read! #NNFN2024

Book cover of Crazy About Cats by Owen Davey.
Another set of non-fiction titles I’d get for every school if I could is Owen Davey’s animal books for @flyingeyebooks.bsky.social. Crazy About Cats is my sons’ favourite but there’s a whole rand and they’re all excellent. I adore Owen Davey’s illustration style too. #NonFictionNovember #UKKidLit
Roger Sabin, Phaidon coffee table book on comic art
Hugh Grant in Notting Hill standing in front of the bookshelves, with Roger Sabin’s bright orange book visible.
Remembering that day when I worked out why Hugh Grant’s travel bookshop in Notting Hill was struggling for business: it mainly stocks (and promotes face-out) Phaidon coffee table books on the history of graphic novels and comic art.
Very pleased Ditching Saskia, a graphic novel by John Moore and Neetols is listed. It’s glorious. And Saskia herself is brilliant, one of those young girl characters who is properly rounded and a right little madam at times. @flyingeyebooks.bsky.social
It’s an absolute pleasure, I know they’ll be loved! And it makes me feel less guilty about nabbing a Twig badge for myself…
We could set up an entire school fete!
Very happy to support you both in this endeavour
Hello everybody! We’re working on the 2025 festival (6-8 June) and interested to hear suggestions for our eclectic, counter-cultural, feministy, musicy, Londony programme. Please RT (do we call it that here?) so publicists etc can find us again 🤓. Thank you!
