I was in Cincinnati this morning to hear oral arguments in a Kim Davis appeal that her lawyer wants to see ultimately help overturn federal same-sex marriage protections.

Every January, I feel a constant, vague background panic until my mother’s Medicaid renewal letter arrives. Without it, her care would cost some $10,000 per month.

With significantly more leg elevated activity than usual I find myself wondering what we’re reaching for. Hope? Or truth?

Today I am in pain.
I am in physical and emotional pain.
